The Minsky Moment

We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

Saw an (unsourced) that "Mexican Cartels" were sending drone operators to Ukraine to help and to "learn the trade".

Whether that's specifically true or not, it will be interesting to see to what degree non-governmental forces (criminal organizations, terrorists etc) adapt lessons from this war in their own spheres.

I reckon it's probably not that long before we see the first drone based assassinations outside of the Ukraine war. And drones are probably used for drug smuggling already.

It is known and established that a lot of Colombians have been fighting in Ukraine. Ex soldiers who previously fought the various other groups.

I'm not sure about Mexicans with gang links though.... Surely there's more money to be made at home. This does smell like the sort of story Russia would aim at trumpies.

Drones are 100% used for smuggling. There's been some cases around prisons in the UK.

An interesting piece I read today about how Russia is obsessed with Britain.
It's nice to be loved.

I am a bit surprised this hasn't evolved out of control already...and I imagine/hope the USSS and other national executive protective services are eyeballs deep in how to plan against it.

Seems hard to imagine that these services will be able to keep drone jamming/ECM going all the time everywhere a target might travel, and then you have to factor in the fiber optic alternatives.  And a lot of this could be easily accessible to even the "amateur" would-be assassin market.

It could be modern/worse version of the 18/19th century spate of anarchist assassinations.

I saw a video the other day from near the front line in Ukraine. Nets have been put up around the whole main road stretching for miles.

I hope this is just a temporary measure for a front line town in a war and won't spread.

Me too, nets are hell on dolphins.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Who could like a team whose quarterback has a career completion % less than 70%?
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

Also, no quarterback in the history of the league has a career completion percentage above 70%, and Tua's is currently the second-highest ever (exceeded only by Joe Burrow.

Eh.  These days you get ~65% just for showing up and not tripping over yourself.
It's not like a Ken Anderson or a Steve Young 70%, when 70% still meant something.

The modern tight end and the defenceless player rules really changed the game.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.
