Well, let's hope that this doesn't get to the players' heads too much and doesn't lead to them underestimating the next opponent.

Ehhhhh I may be okay with that.

I would hate to see a mere 4-1 German victory.

Müller just sounded very realistic in the post match interview.

You get the feeling that Germany pulled their feet off the gas pedal in the second half too. They could have won 15-0.

Feel sorry for Toronto FC's goalie  :(

It'll be interesting to see how Brazil looks in a couple years after this team is completely blown up and reassembled. They've been going downhill since 2002.

Btw, for an old C64 Microprose Soccer veteran the semi final pairings feel "right". The five strongest teams in the game were Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Netherlands and Germany, and four of those are in the semi finals.

It may seem weird, but I played that damn game so much that the top 5 are for me always the favorites in tournaments.  :P

Ironic thing about Brazil. One of, if not the, greatest football nations ever. They've won the world cup 5 times. Yet on home soil failed twice.

QuoteTwitter Sure Does Have a Lot of Nazi and Holocaust Jokes for the Germany-Brazil Game!

Five first-half goals for Germany left Brazil stunned and teary-eyed in today's World Cup semifinal and it only got worse from there. But for the amateur comedians of the internet, German dominance can mean only one thing: time for some Holocaust jokes. By the time finals-bound Germany scored its sixth and seventh goals, "Nazi" was trending on Twitter and just about every variation of an edgy but not-too-offensive Hitler or World War II reference had been used and reused. The onslaught was not as ugly as the game, but not quite as funny either.

A brief sample, because you'll quickly get the idea:

Binyamin Appelbaum: The Germans have stormed into a foreign country and taken charge. How unexpected.

Andy Farag: Germany must think they are playing Poland the way they are conquering Brazil right now

Daniel Kibblesmith: Man the goalie really holocaust them the game, I bet Brazil's coach was like Aw Schwitz

Spencer Ackerman: What Brazil doesn't realize is that if Germany wins it *will* conquer & colonize the good parts of the country.

Joshua Benton: Flush With Confidence, Germany Launches Land War in Asia

Sasha Frere-Jones: The Germans will just deny the match ever happened.

Max Silvestri: Probably already some Germans denying this many goals were scored. "The number of 5 is exaggerated."

John Podhoretz: I guess this is one thing you can't make a Downfall parody clip out of

World Cup 2014: Brazil did Nazi this coming.

Pabeats Baeless: Stop with these nazi jokes, they're not funny. Anne Frankly, they're offensive

Viva Brazil!

Jogo Bonito or death. :weep:

Brazil chose wisely. Rebuild, do-over in Russia or more realistically Qatar.

Perfect outcome.  Blitzkrieg, plus I had a dollar bet down that Brazil would score at least once. :punk:

The Larch

This looks really terrible for Scolari. He purposedly picked a sub par team to better fit his gritty style and they got hammered with no possibility of stemming the tide. I hope he gets political asylum somewhere because he sure as hell won't be allowed to stay in Brazil.
