Great win last night but Toronto is making me nervous again

It's Dem O's that should be making you nervous.

Markakis homers and the O's lead 1-0.  I have a feeling the losing streak ends today!

I am not worried about Dem O's.  They went out and got Jon Lester which should really help them get to the...oh that was Oakland?  Damn.  But surely they picked up David Price right?  They are ready for that pennant race it is in the...oh that was the Tigers?  Damn.  Well they got somebody right?  Right?

Edit: Birds win 1-0!

Aces cost money.  Much easier to use up the promising farm arms and wait until next season for all the stars to get lucrative free agent contracts elsewhere.
Why bother spending money to win when you're getting free money from the cable network you share with the Nationals?  Let the Nationals win for you!  PROFIT

Shame to see all that young talent going to waste.

It's official - at the trade deadline with the Royals 1.5 games back of the wildcard, and 5 games back in the AL Central, for the first time in almost 30 years I am paying attention to the Royals again.

Cue a horrendous losing streak in 5, 4, 3...

The Braves big move before the trade deadline of kicking Dan Uggla off the team by all reasonable measures should have made the team much more competitive, but a 6 game losing streak is indicating otherwise. And fucking up the season.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

David Price throwing for a team not called the Rays on MLB Network right now.  Looks weird.  Just smoked Teixeira.

Still in there in the 9th.  Didn't smoke everyone though.  :)

EDIT: and now Joba comes in ... for the other side.

So McCutchen may be out for a month with a fractured rib.  :pinch:

He's lucky if it's just a month.

Dunno how this sneaked up on me, but I just realized Trevor Rosenthal has 35 saves already this year.

And in the weird to see the guy in another uniform category, the Cards will have to face Joe Kelly tonight, whom they had traded a few short days ago to the Red Sox.

And since I posted about the Cardinals, I've jinxed them again and they will lose tonight.

They have a 5 game lead & have been doing well, while Toronto has continued to slide.  Be happy.  Live in the now.

Seedy is really making me nervous I have to say.  It seems like if they do not win the East this year they will not have the chance for awhile.

I wish the Braves had waited a few more weeks to go on a seven game losing streak and kamikaze their playoff chances, as football season would have kept me from noticing.

Everyone in Cincy has already switched to football.  Bengals practices seem to be drawing more people than Reds games.

Funny thing is the Reds are a game above .500 and only 5 games out of the division lead and 4 games out of a wild card spot.  They could make a run in August and/or September and at least make it close.  They probably won't, but you never know when one player is going to hit a hot streak an carry the team for a few games.

That's because they won't.  Hell, they would have no business being in 1st if this whole division wasn't such a historical trainwreck all at once;  they were lucky to survive their great-pitching-no-bats April and the all-power-no-pitching of late May and early June.

They can be dangerous, if they don't peak too early and if they keep the pitching and hitting together.

It is only due to the awesome coaching power of a fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL Buck Showalter that they're getting career numbers out of role players.

Fun fact I learned during the Os-Nationals series: they both lead their respective leagues in team HRs, yet neither has a hitter over .300 for the season.  I find that both interesting and completely unnerving.
