Schadenfreude day.
Sure the Giants were awful and Eli sucked in a historically epic way (3.5 Cleopatras out of 4).
But watching the Cowboys suffer a humiliating loss and the lowly Vikings crush the Eagles really took the sting out.
The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists.

The Redskins are so bad that their defeat was not even worth Shadenfreude  :(

They don't call it NFC Least for nothing.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Doom & gloom among the yokels this morning.  Apparently the final two regular season games are already lost, Bengals will miss the playoffs, and as such Marvin Lewis might as well be fired now.

People here are so bipolar.

Marvin Lewis will never be fired.  .500 is a lock for life in a Mike Brown organization.

Typical punk ass move by a Steelhead.  Why not cheap shot somebody in the handicapped parking while you're at it, tough guy?

The hit on the punter?  He's on the field and wearing pads. :lol:

The way I read the rules, it was an illegal hit.

Article 9
It is a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against a player who is in a defenseless
posture.

(a) Players in a defenseless posture are:
(1) A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass;
(2) A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to
protect himself or has not clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or
warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player;
(3) A runner already in the grasp of a tackler and whose forward progress has been stopped;
(4) A kickoff or punt returner attempting to field a kick in the air;
(5) A player on the ground at the end of a play;
(6) A kicker/punter during the kick or during the return;
(7) A quarterback at any time after a change of possession, and
(8) A player who receives a "blindside" block when the blocker is moving toward his own endline and
approaches the opponent from behind or from the side.
(b) Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is:
(1) Forcibly hitting the defenseless player's head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or
shoulder,
regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless
player by encircling or grasping him; and
(2) Lowering the head and making forcible contact with the top/crown or forehead/"hairline" parts of
the helmet against any part of the defenseless player's body.
Note: The provisions of (2) do not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or helmet in the course of a
conventional tackle on an opponent.
Penalty: For unnecessary roughness: Loss of 15 yards. The player may be disqualified if the action is
judged by the official(s) to be flagrant.

Garvin should have been flagged and probably ejected.  The return should have been called back and the TD taken off the board.  Might not have made a difference in the final result of the game, but it's what should have happened.

At this point Garvin should get a fine and Hochuli plus a couple other refs should be downgraded.

He hit the dude in the face with his helmet.  Seems like an easy call.

Also, broken jaw and cracked vertebrae in his neck?  Yikes.

Yeah, that sucks pretty bad.  Huber is a great guy who grew up in Cincy & went to UC & was having probably his best year.  Also a little unsettling that they had him walking upright off the field with a cracked vertebrae.

Don't worry, there will be a fine come Tuesday.  How is anyone surprised that the Steelers are only punished after the game ends with monetary concessions demanded?  It's been going on for years and probably will continue to do so.  They don't get the game breaking or changing penalties against them, nor loss of draft picks, nor suspensions, just fines.  Fines which are a total joke compared to the other alternatives.

Related to that, is the Steelers' official explanation (i.e., that Tomlin was truly unaware that he was interfering with the play and only smiled afterwards because the players were teasing him) being widely accepted now?  Because Collinsworth and Michaels were stating it last night as if it were fact.

I don't buy it, and I'm not a Steelers hataholic.  There's no way a head coach casually strolls the field with his back to a play, let alone a big play.
