Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

I'll often cross the river here, several times in a modest journey, as much of my travel seems to involve traversing the valley north-south.

There is however another river I rarely cross if I can help it.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Several times a week, there's a river in between me and the closest major city.

Liep

Several times a week. The university is located on the so-called Shit Island.

My town has the oldest railway bridge in the world :contract:

Define bridge. Proper large noticeable spans over water- less than weekly. Spans over something- daily in the train. So by your definition the first I suppose

Somebody's been reading a biography of Immanuel Kant.  <_<

Who?
:yeahright: Seriously?

I know who Kant is, I'm wondering who Viking thinks is reading his biography.

I cross  (small) bridges over Plum Creek, Cane Run, Floyd's Fork, Pope Lick Creek, Chenoweth Run, and Beargrass Creek daily.  Louisville is on the Ohio River but I very rarely cross into Indiana as I cannot bear to set foot on Yankee soil. :)

Been crossing the Lamoille River each way to work for about four months.  :Canuck:

Well, except for the Indiana part.

Ohio is OK.  I'll make an exception for the Cincinnati area.  Indiana tho...  :yuk:

I cross very few bridges when I stay in my home.  At least one if I go outside.  There's a lot of creeks and such in Jefferson City.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The OP obviously. Kant is without a doubt the most notorious daily bridge crosser in world history.

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.
