Miley Cyrus would make a perfect female Indy.

That's who I would pick if it were my movie.  She would get a lot more use out of her whip than Harrison Ford did.  Also there would be scenes where the villains turned the tables and used their whips on her.

I didn't realize Urban was quite as old as he was.  I guess there's not much point in rebooting a franchise with a 70-year old star with a 50-year old star.

He is 41. A year younger than me.

So?  Nobody's suggesting casting you as Indy, either.

So he'd be well over 50 when the second sequel came out.

Not necessarily the way they make them three at a time now.

I thought there was at least one other film where they pre-shot the sequel.

Back to the Future 2 and 3.

Twilight sequels, I believe.

Probably others.

I think that was just the final book they decided to make into two parts.

Other than that it has just been Jackson and his Tolkien flicks that have done it recently.

If you're sure that you're going to do multiple movies, it saves a lot of money to film them back-to-back, or even concurrently.  The catch, of course, is being sure enough that the first one is going to be successful to justify doing sequels at all.

Neil

Didn't they do that with Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3?

Still, Indy movies don't work like that.  Each one is self-contained.

Ford was 39 when Raiders came out. 40-somethings are a lot younger for their age than they used to be

Nathan Fillion wins my thumbs-up.
