I was once in the same room as Laura Bush

Hopefully it wasn't because she drove through the wall.

I'm sure she has reformed and put to rest the ghost of the boy she killed with her car.

I shook Dan Quayle's hand. BEAT THAT.

I've met - and chatted with - Joe Biden. :)

I've also met:

Jesse Jackson
George Bush Sr
Bob Dole
Michael Dukakis
Dick Gephart
Paul Simon
Jack Kemp (very gruff guy)
Pat Robertson (who was very nice in person)

I was a Student Worker at the 1988 Iowa Caucuses. ^_^
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

I listened to Jesse Jackson for a second and then walked away when he mentioned, I believe it was Katrina and George Bush.

What was Paul Simon running for?

President

That was the year of the ridiculous number of candidates for Democratic nominee, none of whom had a chance. :P

Was he lucid at the time? Or did he say something hillarious? :)

It was 25 years ago. He was charming, funny (in the right ways), and clever. I remember most vividly how intelligent he seemed, and that he took our questions very seriously. As a high school senior, that was increidbly important to me.
