Burn Notice
Psych
Dexter

Uh...

Jesus, there's not much on TV these days is there?

Rome was good.

Miniseries-wise: Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon

That's all I can think of...

Family Guy, pre this season. This season has gotten increasingly preachy and unfunny.

American Dad. Gotten better, especially with the Patrick Stewart CIA guy episodes. And Rodger is Martinus.

NCIS. Rub one off when Cote De Pablo is on screen.

House.

Scrubs. Skip the last NBC season, as it got crappy.

Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I didn't realise he was looking for comedy series too, but if so, then I can't recommend Scrubs enough. Along with How I Met Your Mother and United States of Tara, best comedy on TV in the recent years.

Yeah, if we're including pure comedies I'd agree with Ed re: Family Guy and American Dad, throw in a mention for Futurama if you haven't seen it, and third Scrubs but I'd say you want to jump ship after season 4.

Oh, and I totally forgot science fiction. Farscape and Babylon 5 are both worth your time (though both have rocky starts).

Josephus

Lost.

But you'll need to start from the very beginning. Which isn't always such a bad thing. I'm now in Season 3 of Stargate SG1, for instance.

[If you liked Shaun of the Dead you will love Spaced - same people).

They also made Hot Fuzz. :x

Well, I liked that too, but the fact is that Spaced is much more like Shaun of the Dead and not at all like Hot Fuzz.

If you can find it, try Spaced. Waay funnier than any US sitcom.

I take it that you finally followed my recomendation of Spaced, ages ago.

Tamas, watch The Wire, if you haven't already.

Edit: Another Brit sitcom worthy of attention, Black Books.

Chuck is fun
It is terrible.  I wish every single character except for Animal Mother would die.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

For comedies: Peep Show, Father Ted (although it's not that recent), both UK and US series of The Office.

For dramas: Lost, Oz, Dexter.
In Treatment is also supposed to be very good but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Alcibiades

Always Sunny in Philadelphia is really good.

I enjoyed Space Above and Beyond - an oldy though.

Damages, I only saw season one but it was very very good.

I love how the guy asked for a recent tv show and people are suggesting shows from the 1980-1990s (Father Ted) or movies (Shaun of the Dead).

Tamas: Guys, know any good recent tv shows?
Languish: Yeah, you must see "Gone with the Wind"

Caliga

That's because TV was actually good in the good old days.

Tamas, might I suggest: I Love Lucy, Mister Ed, My Favorite Martian, The Munsters, All in the Family, and The Great Grape Ape?
