Quote from: 11B4V on July 18, 2011, 02:16:17 AMIt had such a southern slant I nearly puked. Almost trying to be revisionist in it's presentation.

"Why, Massa Gen'ral Jackson, I sho'nuff hopes you comes back from whippin' dem Yankees for da state's rights to levy export tariffs."

that Stonewall as Abolitionist was just silly. He was fanatical in fighting for a government that was founded "upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition." At worst he was an evil man fighting for slavery, at best he was a moral delinquent that refused to consider the moral consequences of his actions.

I couldnt agree more.
"there's a long tradition of insulting people we disagree with here, and I'll be damned if I listen to your entreaties otherwise."-OVB

"Obviously not a Berkut-commanded armored column.  They're not all brewing."- CdM

"We've reached one of our phase lines after the firefight and it smells bad—meaning it's a little bit suspicious... Could be an amb—".

I couldnt agree more.

I always find it funny how after Appomattox Courthouse every single Confederate traitor claims to have been a secret abolitionist all the time.
First Maxim - "There are only two amounts, too few and enough."
First Corollary - "You cannot have too many soldiers, only too few supplies."
Second Maxim - "Be willing to exchange a bad idea for a good one."
Second Corollary - "You can only be wrong or agree with me."

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.
The fact remains that the only person or group to applaud the Norway massacre are random Islamists.

Funny what happens when people are on the losing side.

And the ones that didn't weren't man enough not to wear white hoods later.

Also, only if it is a movie I find a need to watch often.  Once every couple years?  Not worth it.

There are movies for which that's not enough?
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Josquius

I watched the first episode of the new Breaking Bad series.
I...just don't get it. I can't remember so well what happened last time. Why did the boss guy kill the Mexican copy-cook? Why were they in this situation in the first place?
My memory is going to hell :(

Shit, Torchwood had a straight character. Background character, yes, but he did say "I'm not gay" repeatedly. Martinus is gonna claim he's just repressed though...

To be fair, he eventually cracked with the "It was just the one time!" line.

Torchwood: Miracle Day is on Strike Two where I'm concerned; Strike One is how long it's taking to get rolling, and Strike Two is how inconsistent Rex is as a character- he's a douche in the first few minutes of the first episode, almost sympathetic through the rest, and goes back to being a flying asshole in the second episode.  It feels like they're just trying to mash together too many roles in Rex.
Experience bij!

Neil

Strike three is that Martinus likes the series, because everyone in it is gay.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

He was trying to "replace" Walt with the other chemist whom he trusted more. So Jesse killed Gail as an insurance policy. I assume the Mexican was killed either because he was seen at Gail's apartment or because Gus didn't trust him to fall in line when he spared Walt.

I think because the Mexican copy-cook was seen by witnesses?

Berkut

Watched Salt last night. It was surprisingly mediocre. I expected it to be terrible, but really, it was just pretty bad!

Admiral Yi

Just watched most of Inception and I have no clue what it was about.

I did, however, notice that as Cillian Murphy ages he is looking more and more like Martin Short.

Did you start from the beginning, or do your usual ADHD thing and jump in at the 25 minute mark and watch it to the 1:04 minute mark?

Berkut

Inception was excellent.
