Also, the fact that this fellow ranted about his inability to get a girl prompting him into a mad rampage isn't really an indication that other girl-less fellows may go the same route. Most likely if the guy was a big hit with the ladies he would have been just as dangerous.

I agree. Most guys in his situation would simply grow jaded and/or become whiny little wusses. Something else has pushed him further, at least a significant personality disorder.

Probably some mix of raging selfishness/ lack of empathy for others combined with violent fantasies.

In short, the sort that, if they *are* in a relationship, are likely to end up abusive and/or murderous.

I agree.  Earlier I was wondering what would have happened had he gotten married.... would everything be totally cool with the guy, or would he later flip out over something else and go on a rampage, but instead against his family?

The latter, I would imagine. Most murder/suicide types do in their families if they have one.

Well, apparently this guy did have at least one relationship many years ago (though I think one of his ex-gfs died).  But if there are any other ex-gfs they will no doubt be interviewed shortly about the nature of the relationship and if he was abusive.

Which will most probably invariably sound like "I don't understand, he was such a nice guy, so polite and attentive in all. I didn't think he could be such a monster".

But, as I said: Internet standards.

I don't think that was part of his problem.  He said that he estimated that there are 30 million desirable women in the country, which doesn't sound like a guy with impossibly high standards.

Who ALL rejected him, point blank? Because that is what he was pretending on his blog.

It's just mind boggling that he could not find anyone.

If I took an hour to create a profile on some online dating site in Pittsburgh and trolled it for uggos, I'm sure I could have at least one chick flying to Louisville in a week or so.  He wouldn't even have to require them to have made a trip.

That's the top 50% of all women in the 20-49 age range, so no.  Dunno how much thought he put into that number, though (if he was thinking 120 million women in the US without narrowing the age range, that's top 25%).

The really sad thing is that one of the chicks he shot was roughly his age, reasonably attractive from her photo, and was a single mom with a teenage boy.  I'll bet dollars to donuts that if he'd asked her out she actually would have said yes.

Kari Byron is one hell of a chick.

I also had a thing for Scottie Chapman back when she was on Mythbusters, mainly because of her tattoos.

You know something funny?  Women like to be treated badly.  That's what goofs like this guy could never figure out.
Knowing something intellectually and being able to actually do it are two different things.
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I'm amazed that you would single Neil out for a comparison here.
Indeed.  I'm not a 'shooting rampage' kind of guy.  I'm more of a 'change the laws so that it's alright for law enforcement to feed homosexuals feet first into woodchippers' kind of guy.  I'm not a crazed gunman, I'm more the kind of person who sees people as statistics rather than individuals.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.
