Live from Lincoln Center on PBS... Itzhak Perlman playing the theme from Schindler's List is goddamn devastating.

Old news, it's been like that for decades.
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

Isn't that normal? My mam generally controls the money and my dad has his pocket money- though its not a tightly controlled thing.
In Japan especially as in traditional pre-socialist Europe it makes big sense the man works non-stop, leaves home 6am in the morning and gets home 10pm at night, doesn't really get much time to spend anything or pay attention to household finances.

QuoteBut in many places 500 yen would barely be enough for a bowl of noodles or a McDonald's burger.
err....what?
What ridiculous journalism just trying to paint a picture of grim Blade Runneresque summer expensive Tokyo.
A McDonalds hamburger costs 100 yen in every McDonalds in the country.

The expensiveness of Tokyo is overrated. Trains are cheap as hell and food and drink is pretty much the same as elsewhere in Japan. Maybe slightly less at times due to all the competition. The only places where prices are higher- rent, parking, etc.... will be sorted by the household budget so shouldnt affect the guy.

QuoteOn average, they only spend 2,860 yen on a night of drinking which is almost half of what they used to spend just three years ago.
I havent been around that long but from what I gather this does seem true. I missed the party :(

They may just be getting older.  I mean, seriously, Japan is like Britain in Children of Men, right?  Who the fuck's gonna be in my porn in 2040?  Robots?  Well OK.
