Tom Brokaw also did a bit on Britain, terrorism, and security at the Olympics.  He said the genesis of Delta was guys who had trained with the SAS.  Betrayus and McChrystal agreed that Delta borrows heavily from the SAS, especially in selection.

Must be tough to find enough British guys for the job.

Guests of the Ayatollah (generally decent book) has a bit on their origins. Inspired by Israeli, British and German special forces and I think the actual links with the SAS are particularly strong.

As Neil says, watches have become jewelry. I have nothing against it, but it's not something I would spend a lot of money unless there was a significant ROI (promotions, contracts, etc).
