The Brain

Quote from: Jacob on May 04, 2025, 01:04:01 AMSome talk about whether Putin's fancy parade next week is a legitimate war target or not.

What do you all think?

Can Ukraine target it? Should Ukraine target it?

I don't see why it wouldn't be a legitimate target. Don't know if Ukraine can or should target it though.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

Zanza

If they have the capability, they should attack the place where the Russians gather the vehicles for the parade. That's obviously a military target and little threat of collateral damage.

Crazy_Ivan80

No respite for Russians in uniform or their leaders. If it can be hit, like in the staging areas, go for it.
It's not like the Russians aren't playing 'bomb the civilian' every day.

I think sabotaging the parade would be possibly more effective in this case. Tanks and missile carriers breaking down, troops breaking ranks due to the powerful laxatives introduced into their diet....that sort of thing. Probably not feasible butit conjures up pleasing images.

These dicatators don't like having the piss taken and have underdeveloped senses of humour.

Josquius

I'd agree with Zanza. Attacking the parade itself seems like it'd be far more damaging for Ukraine than Russia.

Though given Russias threat a non violent message during the parade would be nice. Highlight Ukraine isn't afraid and is just not attacking the parade because they're not civilian killers.

Ukraine can and should try to target the parade as it crosses Red Square.  Plenty of buffer there between military and civilians and the chance to remind Muscovites that the war they love so dearly won't always be taking place a thousand miles away.

The attack would have to be by drone, though, and the Russians are probably going to have some significant defenses against drone attack.

Bayraktar!

What remaining air defense assets the russians still have will be heavily deployed around Moscow. It wouldn't surprise me if the Ukrainians send a couple decoys that way and hit a bunch of other, now undefended targets elsewhere.

Crazy_Ivan80

Maybe they have agents in place in Moscow...?

Ukrainians have captured one of the recently appeared Russian 'turtle tanks':

Glad to see an A7V still in service.

Quote"This is a Russian warship. I propose you lay down arms and surrender to avoid bloodshed & unnecessary victims. Otherwise, you'll be bombed."

Zmiinyi defenders: "Russian warship, go fuck yourself."

We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

See, they ARE fighting Orks.

Anyways, overnight Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow and other cities (not civilian targets though as I understand). Several Russian airports closed.

Both the Serbian President and the Slovakian PM (both were expected to attend the Moscow parade) have come down with mysterious illnesses just before it.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.
