I loved Majesty - and Stronghold.  I remember leaving Majesty playing for a day or two at a time.

Been play some 'LOTR Online' in recent days, I still like it, but never got further than the start of Moria, given just how bit it is, I think I'll have a go at going all the way to Mordor and the post wars end content.

Quote from: Norgy on January 14, 2026, 05:16:17 AMI don't think there have been made many railroad games, and the genre has taken more off into diverse territory with airlines, factories and whatnot.

Speaking of trains, I am pondering whether to sink some time into Last Train Home about those Czech soldiers stuck in the Bolshevik territory during the Russian Civil War. The reviews are very good. Anyone with experience of the game?

My son played it a lot. I will ask him what he thought of the game this afternoon.

Ok so I did ask him but forgot to post about it.

He said the game was really fun but he got frustrated because resource management was difficult. So there we go.

Quote from: celedhring on January 23, 2026, 05:09:09 AMAmazon is giving away Stronghold - I must have put a million hours through it when I was a kid. Is there a more modern game that scratches that itch?

The Majesty games, kinda, I guess?

God, I thought you were older than me...
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Is there anything worth playing on PC game pass, as I had 3-4months free with a new pc, looked a couple of times, but nothing really jumped out at me.  :hmm:

So any recommendations for the next week before I cancel it?

Cities Skylines is in my opinion still better than the sequel. And it certainly runs better.

The Minsky Moment

I quite liked Manor Lords, it was a work in progress on release but still enjoyable, may be even better now.  They've a got a ton of Age of Empires game if that's your bag.  Also they have Paradox games but I think without DLC.

The Indiana Jones game is on there - not a strat game at all but definitely worth playing.
