Did not care for the anno games.  I like colony games where you can sell off several hundred pounds of Yorkshire terrier meat and human skin without people asking to many questions.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Looks really nice, and I know it's the whole myths of the series, but Rome on islands thing takes me away from the game. If it wasn't islands I'd be totally in to it.  I know, I'm weird :D
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Played Act I of the tutorial campaign (just made it to Albion). I like it, it looks very pretty ... but it feels very much like Anno 1800 with a Roman Empire coat of paint. Not complaining, it definitely feels more like evolution rather than revolution. If you liked Anno 1800 and fancy playing it in Ancient Rome, then this might be worth a look. :P

I guess the biggest change is land units?

Zanza

Yes, it takes many elements from Anno 1800. Which makes sense considering that game's huge success. There are some new mechanics though: land units, different promotion paths in Albion, research, religion, adjecencies for production buildings ...
The DLCs also look very good, especially the one about Egypt end of next year.

Fingers crossed that Ubisoft manages to hang on till then. :P
