Quote from: crazy canuck on October 14, 2025, 12:36:25 PMCBC Gem has a new 10 episode series about János Hunyadi.  I am 6 episodes in, and really enjoying it.  I think it is on Netflix in other countries.  I recommend watching it with subtitles, and no dubbing.  It is important to know who is speaking what language to catch some of the nuance of the story being told.

Edit - sorry it's called Rise of the Raven

It better not be that recent crap made my Orban stooges.

That's exactly the sort of thing the CBC would put on its streaming service.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Just checked.

It's 2025 not 15, and while it is co-produced by Austrian ORF, it was made by Hungarian TV2 which is an oligarch-owned cesspool often sinking lower than state TV in pushing propaganda.

I don't know if the script has propaganda in it, but it was made and financed by disgusting people.

Enjoy.

Sorry that sounded a bit like victim-blaming :) you couldn't had knowm.

But the others here shouldn't try to pay money for it if they want to watch it.

Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".

There was never any chance of that on my part!  :P

Made by Canadian. The reason I found out about the show is because he was interviewed on the CBC.  But you couldn't have known for all of we probably five minutes you spent carefully considering the issue on your. I'm sure very thorough Google search.

Produced by a Hungarian-Canadian and a Hungarian, for the Hungarian government-owned National Film Institute Hungary and the German firm Beta Film Gmbh. It has fuck all to do with Canada, as I am sure that your very thorough Google search informed you.

So I guess the Canadian who was interviewed on CBC who said he made it was just lying.  Thank God I have you to set me straight.

I suspect that the issue isn't that he was lying, but rather that you weren't paying attention. This isn't the first, nor will it be the last, time you can thank Hod I set you straight.

FFS this series was all over Hungarian news at the time. I just used Wiki to verify.
