I was last seriously into fifa with 97. Totally dropped off since then.
I have some more recent games as older versions are (were?) frequently found second hand for ridiculous prices and felt to give them a go but could never get into them.
Last one I got was where they introduced the story /career mode. I was keen to play.... But turned out that wasn't in the ps3 version.
Can't get into the game really.

Not too long ago I got the captain tsubasa game on switch. Far more up my alley of what a football game should be. Arcadey and silly.

I think we loved FIFA a lot. I bought my first 3dfx graphics card to improve FIFA 97 and FIFA The Road To The World cup, and man, did the graphics improve. Those days, I had a Microsoft joystick with umpteen buttons, and it suited FIFA quite well. My flat was definitely the most popular place to come with a pizza and a few beers back then.

I liked the NHL series from EA, but more to play as Norway in the B World Cup. The invented names were so off-key we just sat and laughed while playing. I think the last version I bought, Espen Knudsen was still in the NHL, and the only real name in the Norwegian team.

You can get pretty good xbox-style controllers fairly cheap off Amazon and the like. There's no reason to play games like FIFA (or Assassin's Creed, or Elden Ring etc) with mouse and keyboard.

I have a few, but for some reason, I have grown so accustomed to WASD and mouse that I am out my depths with a controller. I am more like Homer Simpson trying to build his outdoors BBQ pit.

I know the feeling but it is worth persisting in my opinion.

FPS on anything other than a mouse and keyboard is awful. Makes me physically ill.
But console style games without a pad....No.

Playing FIFA with WASD sounds crazy to me but it is apparently very cool. You get FPS style shot precision. It's probably better if you play with a North-South camera angle instead of the default East-West tv style angle.

I am so annoyed by Microsoft latest Game Pass price hike that I find myself wanting to change from my Xbox series X to a PS5. The real problem is that those things are so expensive. And for the kind of games I play unnecessary. I wish a screen less steam box existed.

I just wish they'd make docking smooth on the steam deck. It's technically possible now, but it's a PITA.

Best I can suggest is something like a nvidia shield and steam link to a computer.

Pretty sure valve is working on something to fill this niche though they're taking their time

Is there going to be a price hike on pc as well? I haven't seen it.

So it seems the PC plan is now £13.50 but when I go to my account they say next time they'll charge me the old 10 pounds. I guess I'll see what happens after that.

Yeah, this fall is when I update from my 1660ti. I'll get a RX 9060 XT in the coming weeks.

The cheapest 16gb 9060 in the Canadian market came into stock at my local Canada Computers & I pulled the trigger.

Power Color Reaper @ 490. About 10$ more than MSRP.
