Cancel culture seems to only apply to moderate left, like Colbert and Kimmel.

Next on the list is probably Jon Stewart and John Oliver.

Agent Trump is still one of the most powerful people on Earth. And this is what he does? He takes away health benefits for the poor and gets talk shows cancelled?

Going to make Gaza a new resort?

But this policy of cancelling out the opposition is obviously working.
It is like a chapter from "M" about Mussolini. Only, there the socialists were killed, not Charlie Kirk.

Making America great again seems to be about getting the jackboots on rather than recreating a gilded age.

Xi Jinping used anti-corruptipn to purge any opposition and solidify his grasp once he got into power.

It will be interesting to see how obviously the Trumpists manipulate the election process during the midterms.

Anti-corruption is a classic fascist method. Putin uses it relentlessly to get rid of any internal opposition.

Zoupa

I meant false charges of course. I'm not advocating for corruption lol.

Does a point come when American Languishites have to think about self-censoring what they write here, in case it get used against them in real life by the 'government', corporations or other bad actors?

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

The Minsky Moment

Good evening this is Minsky Moment's new AI powered virtual assistant.  I will be posting for MM from now on.

I really look forward to sharing with you how much we love and treasure our dearest leader and favorite President, Donald J. Trump!  Please tell us how much you love him too!   Please don't forget you are always being watched.  Especially you dirty foreigners. Shape up or get tariffed.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

Let's test CBP's internet sleuth skills if I ever decide to head south.

Wu-Tang never dies. Unlike some. Feels like this song was a real Turning Point in their careers.

Non Americans who want to visit the USA may also be well advised to be cautious in their speech.

Yes but you are talking about people with no option left but protest and violence to save/gain what they considered a liveable life. The problem in America is the same as the problem elsewhere with opposing these kind of governments - there is a liveable existence for the masses that they do not want to risk because they think/hope they can maintain it even with fascists in power.

And I am in no position to attack them for it - it was blindingly obvious for me where Hungary was going even around 2011, but my response wasn't to dedicate my life and security to fight the tide, but to leave the country.

At this point the USA is like Russia, I realize I'm not likely to be able to visit it anymore in my lifetime.

Thing is ... let's say the Democrats manage to take back the Senate, House of Representatives and Presidency by 2028 (feels very hypothetical at this point).

How do you even begin to fix the institutional damage that has been done by now?

That's why you need massive protests as soon as this shit starts. It's muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch harder to fix once it's broken. Pertaining to my field, but for example the CDC has always been the gold standard reference. Now it's been gutted and politicized beyond recognition. These scientists won't magically reappear in 2028 and pick up where they left off. Whole departments are gone. These folks will be in the private sector or in other countries.

God knows France is a mess because of constant protests but I feel the US could use a dose of that.
