This guy was a captain. Of Industry. In 1850.

That's an old pic. Nowadays he does look more like a captain. Of a Tercio Regiment. In 1640.

"Goals" may have been scored differently in 1640.

Every time Mr Mister's Broken Wings comes on in a playlist, it immediately takes me back to playing GTA Vice City the first time. If the song would come up on the radio at night (better, if it's raining), I would just go do some night driving (which itself was popular in Miami Vice) in a sports car.

FM 2026 is coming.

And, the screenshots look like actual football matches. Sure, it will be bugged, and you will have 7-0 wins at first.

But it looks like SI have done solid work.

Yeah, it was so relaxing.

"I love that record.  It grabs me by the crotch and shakes me around until I'm not sure if I'm a man or a woman. Then I remember, I am Fernando Martinez. MISTER Fernando Martinez, and this is Mister Mister with Broken Wings..."

I missed promotion as Illescas - got to the final of the promotion playoff, but lost both matches. Since board and fans were super delighted I tried to ask the club for bigger wage budget. Or transfer budget. Or repairing the pitch of our stadium. All nopes.

I was prepared to let Jose Molina go since we couldn't afford his contract. However, 10 players staged an intervention and insisted we resign him. I managed to finagle a contract and in the end the wage budget was 10% over (1.1M vs 1M allowed).

So in the new season the club went semi-professional and told me let go of some of the staff. Well, sort of. Among other things, they told me I could not hire a sports scientist. Though I had just signed on a cheaper one than the one that had left. So I tried to let him go and they were like, "What?? You just signed him!!"

I managed to bring the salary under the budget limit and still play in the top 5 of the league, punching well above our weight. So the board decided to slash the wage budget again by 20%, making me way over once again. At that point I started looking around for a new club. I eventually signed with Cordoba (in third tier) during the winter break.

They're also way over budget, BUT they are running a profit, actually. And the target is to put them in the top half of the league. I've lost 2 out of my first 3 league games with them, and played even in the third. Despite being the better team each time. But we beat a tier 2 team and the #3 in La Liga in the cup, playing next against FC Barcelona in the round of 16.

The "We are now semi-pro" message is a bad one.

In the lower divisions in Norway, football is semi-professional. Some clubs have a player or two on a full-time contract.

My Lyn (a club I loathed when I lived in Oslo) was semi-pro, but now we are just raking in money.

You want a new contract, manager? Have 30.000 Euros a week.

I even got the fuckers to build a new stadium.

I wish there was some purpose to manager salary in the game.

A cost of living/housing thing?
I am sure we will see that too.

Other games let you buy property/status symbols, get married, have kids ... I mean, I don't think we need to add Sims features. But some way of investing would be nice? Maybe become a club owner yourself?

I lost against Barcelona 1-4. :D The board is still happy with how far we got, and that lets me hang on for now. :D But I did win my first league match with Cordoba afterwards, breaking an 8 game no-win streak. My board is not happy that I loan out our players for free. But no one wants to pay anything for them, so it's either that or they stay in camp. :P

Our deficit is 600k (budget is 2.6k), and I couldn't shed any salaries during the break. However, we're still making profit, so I'm carefully hoping my Arab owner will eat the loss ... After all, most of it was incurred by my predecessor.

But I'm also maybe reaching the stage where I'm like, "eh, I think I might be over FM again." :P Two seasons is longer than most my careers last. :D

Rally the Troops continues to amaze with what games they implement on their site.  :worthy:

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.
