Whether mocking trump like this is good for newsoms prospects I don't know. Whether he's even someone we should wish will I don't know (though really anyone would be better than trump so if he is the person who presents the best balance of odds of winning short and long term...)
However that someone with such a stage is doing this - bravo.
This is a good thing.
Particularly great to see trump supporters calling him out for behaving like Trump.

Bros vote and are a Republican leaning bunch. It's a good idea to appeal to them.

So then it will be hard to distinguish between the GOP and the Dems.  I don't think that is a good strategy.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Like others said, I hope it works.  I was never a believer in the theory that responding in kind makes you the same as the one you're imitating.  For one, the difference is that you're responding, not initiating.  It does make people talk about a Democrat, seems like already more success than anyone else had.

I know you must be bored me typing about this but sometimes it feels like a time machine reading these things, "oh how to fight his influence? Do we debase ourselves to copy his style? Oh hell no" It's the rattles of an opposition stuck in the populist fascist's trap.

Let me tell you though from what I have seen, ridicule works. Heck, it worked for Harris until they chose to switch over to "Trump is a big bad dangerous man!" rhetoric. Well, heck, that's precisely why people are voting for him. But if you are submissive little kind and sensitive person of a "patriot" you don't want to be seen lining up behind the weak option.

The California governor is highlighting the absurdity of Trump's style of communication. Let him.

Yes, mockery aims at making the fascists look weak, and should be deployed when possible. Similarly, everything that undercuts the pretentions of fascists to embody the true nation works - hence the success of Walz's "weird" comment.

The balancing act is to mock the dear leader, without mocking his voters - and that's not easily done. There is a whole cottage industry online of peddling shorts and videos about mocking Trump voters - which I think is utterly improductive.

Disagree.  When I see clips mocking liberals saying stupid things I want to disassociate myself from them.  I imagine the same thing works for at least some Trump voters.

I'm sure Trump voters want to distance themselves from mocked liberals, too.

My guess is that your algorithm continues to feed you clips of liberals saying stupid things, much like mine continues feeding me Trumpists saying stupid things.

Thus, I am not sure the bro demographics is exposed to the thousands of "Liberal DESTROYS stupid MAGA voters" that pollute my feeds.

But, generally speaking, I think it's improductive because it continues to nurture politics as an apathetic spectator sport. People laugh, they are reassured about their politics, and have the illusion of being involved.

I am actually quite shocked by how many of these genuinely liberal shows (i.e., those who aren't grifters) are all about commentating and excerpting, but have no actionable item. They really could be powerful relays for organizing. It just doesn't seem to be on their radar at all.

I am not apathetic.  I spectate and when it is time for me to vote, I participate.  I laugh.  I have no illusion of being involved.  I am involved.

It's fine. We're not going to agree on this.

You are already disassociated from Liberals, Oex is talking about attracting people who are not already disassociated from the fascists.

Trump is already blaming Zelensky, and the meeting is tomorrow.

I'm so exhausted of this man.

LOL what? That doesn't make any sense. Bros are not out there driving policy. Young men convinced of correct values by speaking their language are valuable political assets.

I was exhausted of him in 1985. So this has been an awesome decade.

Then what did you mean by your statement that the Dems should "appeal" to the bros?  And how does mimicking Trumpist tactics teach correct values.

Lastly if all American young men are bros, it is likely already too late for your nation.
