I really like that the crew is still dealing with issues from their encounters with the Gorn beyond the 1st episode. :)

I think they do a good job of mixing "adventure of the week" with consequences from previous episodes, often at the same time.

This episode wasn't my fav. Antagonists of the week are about a decade out of fashion. And the driver of the plot was basically a rehash of episode 1.

Liked the "homage" (harsh though it may be :D ). The rest was... OK. Guess that was this season's fantasy/dress up episode. Wonder if we'll get another singing episode :P

Did not like the spock part at the end.

The episode left me fairly cold, though it had some good bits. It felt like they couldn't quite decide whether to do parody or homage and fell awkwardly in between - also seemed to mock Roddenberry to some degree? And I think the Spock romances are getting a bit too much at this point. Loved Scotty, loved the "outtakes" in the  credits.

There a chance that they'll reveal that la'an was in the holodeck at the end  :P

Romance aside, it's a rehash of a TNG episode with Moriarty.  Was it Ship in a bottle, or another one, I can't remember, though.

But it was funny nonetheless, because of the Kirk impression cranked a little higher.

Saw a trailer for the new Star Trek show. There's a female jem'hadar... I don't like that. Not to get all weird sci fi nerd but it's been stated several time that the jem'hadar have no females and are entirely cloned. So where'd the get the genes for that female? Did star fleet genetically engineer a female jem'hadar? Maybe I'm just cranky because of insomnia :D

Keen observers notices that her uniform features Klingon insignia in its patterns and her cranial ridges - so probably a Klingon-Jem'hadar hybrid? Also, it's been centuries since the Dominion War and the Dominion were known to genetically engineer their client races, and Klingons also have some history with that (see: Enterprise). So I'm curious about the background there.

The new show is set in the timeline, 800 years in the future from DS9.

Also, garbon, are you watching the new season of SNW? Seems like it's only Syt, Viper, and I. If so what do you think?

Yeah, I acknowledge it may be just me. But it seemed like it was rehashing familiar tropes a bit much and I thought the Space Adventure Hour was a bit over the top (while also trying to hit some of Far Beyond The Stars' themes) and for me it didn't quite come together. Not the fault of the actors or even directing (I assume Frakes enjoyed this one a lot), just the story overall. I saw criticism over last week's zombie excursion, but that worked a lot better for me. But that's fine, maybe it will be better on a rematch. :)

Yes, I have been. I realized I had never watched last season finale so was nice to watch season finale and its conclusion as a double feature.

I've been enjoying this season so far as a popcorn watch. I agree some of it is falling flat but still appreciate it over the endless fan service of Picard and all stakes, all angst of Discovery. Though I generally enjoyed watching both of those too, despite their flaws.

I am already tired of Spock's romantic life, give him a break.
