 :D She's a treasure.

The show is so good. I love all the subtleties. Especially the implication that Lonni is fucking everything up (deliberately, for the Rebels) thanks to his position.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

She's great. The press junkets I've seen of her and Kyle Soller (Syril) last and this season have all been great fun - the two are total goofballs together.

I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Quote from: viper37 on May 07, 2025, 08:58:27 PMThey often manage to surprise me, something rare in television these days.  Even when you know something is coming, like the Gorham massacre that has been talked about since before the 2nd season aired, so well executed.

Just finished that episode. I think I'll wait for tomorrow to see episode 9. I'm rather shaken up by the emotional storm they managed to gather. The build up of the tension until the switch from chanting to singing was masterful. It's a beautiful scene, and quite artistic.

Not sure I have seen a scene (and episode) that powerful in a while.

Bauer

Masterful.  I particularly enjoyed the escape from the Senate, and I like how focused and adaptable Casian has become.  They really nailed his character.

Can somebody explain the significance of the guy that said the gun belonged to him?

Oexmelin

He's Melchi - we saw him in Rogue One; then on Andor, Season 1 we discover he's a fellow inmate when Andor is sent to jail. Andor gives him his gun, stolen from Corporate Security in Ferrix. Which is what, presumably, is recognized by Vel.

Quote from: Syt on May 08, 2025, 12:42:59 AMYeah, it's regrettable (but understandable) that they didn't go with 5 seasons. There's so much implied in the time skips that leave me wanting more.
I wonder if they'll fill in the gaps with comics/audio dramas/novels/games.

Oh! Also, Star Wars The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire is currently 57% off ($12.99) on Amazon right now. I know garbon went to see the author do a talk not long ago. It seems like a really interesting book. Especially for folks here. It's a fictional historical academic account of the Star Wars saga written by an actual historian.

I have it on my Kindle but haven't read it yet. -_-

The new political one (The Mask of Fear) is 50% off, too!

I thought the last few episodes closed it out quite well and immediately made me want to watch Rogue One again to continue the story. :D

Director Krennic is such a scene-chewing diva.

EDIT: I guess I would have liked more of a coda for Perrin and their daughter, but I guess when you go from 4 seasons of plot to 1, you have to cut somewhere. -_-

I liked the catch up of the characters at the end, but Why is perrin still alive/free? His wife turned rebel leader. The empire isn't exactly forgiving or understanding.

Maybe he could share intelligence? Maybe he lost his wealth? I found it interesting that he apparently is with Sculdun's (ex?)wife(?), i.e. the mother of his son in law. Perhaps he delivered Sculdun's criminal activities to the Empire in exchange for amnesty?

Frankly, I would have liked a reaction shot of him last week when he watches or hears about his wife's speech in the senate.
