Liverpool are now joint top for number of times they've won the league. One more and Man Utd are pushed into second.

Sunderland remain 7th ^_^

We're not good for World Wars  I think Everton won the league in 1914 and 1939.

Which should reassure everyone in the US-China war thread.
Let's bomb Russia!

Man. There's a sliding doors moment.
The other year when Everton looked like going down and the finances were so bad there were mutterings of administration...
That's the timeline where people realise what voting for trump means, Putin falls out of a window, and Art Brut write their song to make Israel and Palestine get along.

I watched Inter against Barcelona. It depressed me as a Spurs fan. They're so far ahead in terms of talent it's not even funny.

I doubt any Premier League team could measure up honestly.

Arsenal are bookies favourites... Or at least they were before the PSG game.

Ive said it before but the PL teams really suffer in Europe from more competitive domestic competitions.

I would not call Qatari gas-powered Ligue des Tas Lents more competitive. It's been PSG for 10 years or so, with a couple exceptions.

I think he means the opposite. EPL is more competitive. I think it is generally true that the mid-level EPL teams are much better (because much richer) than their continental counterparts.

JD Vance, football edition:

QuoteJD Vance Warns World Cup Fans About Overstaying Their Welcome

Eleven of the 16 host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are in the United States.

The United States is preparing to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Vice President JD Vance issued a warning to fans from all over the world coming to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The United States, Canada and Mexico are hosting the biggest competition in soccer next summer. The newly expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring 48 teams, will unfold on North American soil for the first time since 1994.
Of the 104 matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 60 will occur in the United States, including every game from the quarterfinals onward. Fans from across the globe are set to visit the host nation to experience the largest edition of the tournament in history.
When speaking about the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Vice President Vance said, "Of course everyone is welcome to come and see this wonderful event. We want them to come, we want them to celebrate, we want them to watch the games.
"But when the time is up we want them to go home, otherwise they will have to talk to Secretary Noem," he added, referring to Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security
.

How gracious! But then some people actually went to Qatar despite no hotels but of the luxury kind.
Good thing Canada and Mexico are available for the –wealthy– fans.

In other news, Arsenal now cannot win anything this year and Spurs have a decent chance of winning the Europa League.

It makes this thoroughly depressing season redeemable.  :)

And of course, Arsenal just scored a goal, giving them hope for the stoppage time.
Still need 2 more to eliminate PSG, however.

I've only seen highlights.

Arsenal - PSG

 Meh.

Barca - Inter

holy crap that was awesome.

So. We are all Milanese now?

Tomorrow the championship playoffs begin.
Sunderland are in there as we've known they would be for 2 months.
For the past few games they've been treating every game like a friendly and just half arsing them as they had nothing to fight for. 5 defeats on the trot.
It's a big worry whether they'll return to early season form or keep going playing in relegation form....
Also annoying is our opponents are Coventry. Long a club of awful cheats, they're playing really well at the moment too.

I'm not hopeful.
Which is depressing as if there's no promotion the squad is bound to be demolished. Le Fee is going back to Italy, Bellingham and Neal are moving to the Premier league, etc...
