... and things like that.

I think it's going to get shitty. Shittier than what most people are prepared for. But humans are resilient. It's way too early to roll over and give up.

Quote from: HVC on March 04, 2025, 05:35:50 PMThey'll just blame someone else. Damn libs sabotaged trump... or whatever. It's not like people weren't warned and they still elected the Cheeto fuck.

MAGAts may buy that, but a lot of people voted Trump because he was going to bring down prices "on day one." They were chumps for believing him, but they don't like him.

They seem to like him so far, according to the polls. 49.8% of the voters voted for him and his approval rating is still roughly at that level, at about 48%.

I cannot imagine a more disastrous and unconstitutional start to a Presidency. Destroying our laws, our way of life, our international position, and our economy at record speed and with incredible stupidity and arrogance. Yet, they approve.

Actually, Trump is underwater by 2 points as of yesterday.  That will only increase as the new jobs and inflation numbers come out.  There's no seismic shift yet, but nothing looks favorable for Trump, and he craves above all else the ability to delude himself into thinking that he is loved. Tat will get harder.

Well this is my source: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/approval/donald-trump/

There could be other polls I am not seeing. But I am eager for good news from somewhere.

Mine was the same source an hour earlier.  The +5 Emerson poll flipped the ratio, but even the updated one has him positive by only one-tenth of one percent.

Lutnik says the tariffs might be gone tomorrow.

Trump has apparently reverse the mass firing order.

I think Trump is tired of winning.
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

And let's do it all again next week. If he doesn't enough times the market will stop reacting and he can let them stick for a while.

Sometimes declines don't correct. Sure they hit plateaus, but eventually the decline starts again.

I always liked Yogi Berra's version:

I think that the shift in projection of almost 4% economic growth this year to a 2.8% contraction in GDP is shaking people.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

I am.  It's not good, it's positively Trumpian, but it's not as unhinged as I thought it would be.

Edit: although it looks like it has been going downhill starting with his RFK Jr shoutout.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

I tried. Knowing how, apparently, powerful and dangerous trans people like me are, I knew I needed to turn it off and open a beer. I have to wonder, though: Was there any effort by Democrats to have a legit united effort to disrupt or protest this madness? I see a mish mash of clothing concepts, random signs, and one brave Congressperson who was escorted out. That's it. That is beyond disheartening to witness. How can we believe in them to fight for us?  :glare:

We can't. At least not as a group. Which is frustrating.

Thought about it for a few seconds, then remembered I needed to wash the floors, prepare the bird feeders for the morning and cut my toenails.  :bowler:
