The email address to send the replies to is being widely shared with contests on to write the best emails to Elons mob.
The main goal of course in gunking it up.

The Minsky Moment

According to press reports, the email went out to the judicial branch, including federal judges and their staff.  The level of incompetence of Musk and his staff is truly staggering.

Which raises other possible responses:

Dear Elon, in response to your inquiry, here are the following top tasks from last week:

1) Drafted language for granting TRO of Doge personnel actions
2) Instructed staff to conduct legal research on unconstitutionality of executive action by unappointed, non-Senate confirmed personnel
3) Wondered why DOJ is taking so long to investigate criminal activity by Doge staff.
4) Changed all passwords in response to massive security breaches in federal databases by Doge staff.
5) Traded in my Tesla.

You may interpret this response as my agreement to resignation.
Your resignation.

That's how you treat employees. Like shit.

I appreciated the irony of the joy he takes abusing employees while Mike Johnson was slashing benefits while talking about the "dignity in work".

Ah yes. So much dignity.

Look, we're all going to have to pitch in if we're going to make Musk the world's first trillionaire.

Musk makes money through bullshit, not productive activity.

I have been hearing about how the founder of Tesla, Martin Eberhard, laid out the original designs and laid out a road map business plan. Well right on the verge of success Musk forced him out, took credit for everything, and went on to implement the business plan. But once they got past that road map, the company is floundering. But if they were to bring Martin Eberhard as CEO to focus on making great products again it would be disastrous because the stock would tank, because it is entirely based on Musk just promising the produce robot butlers on Mars by 2021 and shit and then people just give him billions to not deliver on any of his promises. Not on the actual making and selling of cars. Just fraudulent bullshit artistry by a con-man. So us working hard doesn't seem to actually have much to do with it.

I just don't know how long an economy based on bullshit and nonsense can sustain itself, but I guess we will find out.

How long did it take for the tulip and south sea bubbles to collapse?

Valmy, it is a point that a number of us tried to make earlier in this thread.  But fandom was and continues to be strong with this one. Even though everyone, even Berkut, recognized Musk is an ass, it was thought he was good at getting things done, so we need more of him.

Those of us on the other side of the argument kept pointing out that there is no evidence Musk actually knows what he is doing, and whatever success his companies have had are due to the efforts of others, including governments.  The fact Musk does not know what he is doing has, I hope, become abundantly clear now.

Tesla under musk has lasted over 15 years. That's longer then other tinpot dictatorships, so the US has a good decade plus to limp along.

Valmy can speak for himself, but for me the important point is that after the business plan which had been established by others had been completed, Musk did not know what to do next.

Think Game of Thrones after they got past the books.

Yeah. He is an absentee CEO who does nothing to steer the company. The Board is full of his friends and family members. The stockholders don't want to do anything because they want to keep the stock price high. And the company has just been left to flounder around without a plan or leadership.

At least that is my impression based on what I have learned. Now granted I am not going over every quarterly report with a fine toothed comb or anything. But damn that really checks out based on what we have seen Tesla do over the past couple years.

It takes a bit more than roadmap to succeed at making a new type of car practical.  Like solving thousands of problems as they come up, usually unforeseen and unforeseeable.

Even if you take the part about Tesla at face value, what about SpaceX?  Was there also someone else who came up with a roadmap there?

Zanza

I think it is fair to call Musk a genius for what he achieved and I would also credit him personally with building very successful companies. One of the greatest entrepreneurs of all time and visionary on multiple technologies.

But he obviously went off the rails eventually and turned from entrepreneurial genius to crazy fascist. He seems to have been an asshole throughout.

The new type of car had already been developed by others.  You, and others here, keep making the mistake of crediting him with the technology that was developed.

I'm not a rocket scientist, obviously, but it seems like getting a rocket company off and running is simpler, management not wise, than a car company. You don't need branding, or  as much competition (Russia?), or manage consumer expectations to anywhere in the same degree. You just need to hire guys that know how to build rockets and the money to hire them and do RnD. And that's where his mad genius lies. Getting money. He's a hype man. A car salesman in the classic sense. Whether it's investors or government grants dude knows how to get money.
