From a street view picture you need to guess where you are in the world.
11357 over my first 5 rounds.
Hint : You can move in Street view making it easier when you are in the middle of a forest.
9465 on first go. It sure likes Australia.

Really? Mine were all US. I thought it meant "Where in the world?" as in "World Series".
Mine RNG loves Africa.
I love it when it dumps you in the middle of a non-descript nordic forest.
Most I got so far was 11900, but I also had a game with just 4000 points. Some are impossibly hard. Deserts, forests, end less cornfields etc.
I noticed that the game allows you to move around using the streetview controls. That makes things a bit easier (at least if you're in a settlement).
GF wrote that in his initial post. ;)
I got the Golden Gate Bridge this time. If you pinpoint a location perfectly, you still only get 3200 points...
Had a good one. A guy standing alone, in the snow, in front of a large, abandoned Soviet style building. All other buildings in town also look decrepit.
My guess: Prypyat. Correct! :D
11142 on my first try. Three of the guesses in Australia, two in USA. One of the Australian guesses had a clearly visible flag in it so that made it a little easier. Also got lucky on one where I guessed Texas and wasn't that far off. Basically it was a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, could have been Africa but I figured the yellow lines on the road wouldn't be there in Africa so I guessed Texas and got it right.
That's fun. Thanks. Now I'll never get any work done. Oh, whatever, I'm losing my job soon anyways.
I had one in Munich that actually had a German version of "You are entering Munich" sign, so that was kinda easy.
It's sometimes a bit like Twilight Zone when you explore an area to get your bearings - beautiful sunshine and a few buildings off the street. Move a couple hundred yards - winter, and the buildings are gone. Move another couple yards - summer again, and the buildings are back. It's like jumping through time holes. :D
Got 11388 on my first try. I got lucky by getting two places where it looked like a shithole, but there were white people there. Eastern Europe is not that big, so I got plenty of points on those.
I got one which was some indoor fence yard with a asian looking dude. Trees looked Korean. Picked a spot in South Korean, within ~33km! :w00t:
Weirdest I had (and the locations do repeat after a while) was a beach where you could only move between the water and a small path leading into the bushes. Turned out to be Okinawa, I think, or some other island thereabouts.

I had a similar spot, but it was on the Island of Java.
I love it when I get a road sign, and it doesn't have any vowels in it. You may as well put this on a sign:

Actually, the very next sign did have exactly this.
I had a funny one. A picturesque medieval village at first sight. I turn to one side and there was a huge gothic church. I turn to the other side and there was a creperie. It was only missing guys walking around with baguettes.

Ah you got Quebec City. ;)
I guessed Galveston but it was Myrtle Beach. I guessed Iceland but it was the Shetlands. Not too bad. Better than the one time I guessed Greece but it was Japan or California but it was New Zealand. :P
13181 :yeah:
You were right about the Eastern European being easy: if it's very gray target somewhere between Poland and Ukraine.
I like how you get to play detective, I was lost until I found a little note on a lamp post with Korean signs. 3000 points. :yeah:

No, I pinpointed a square in Santiago de Compostela and the game gave me more than 6,000 points. I closed over 16,500.
It's fun, but my game has a strange penchant towards japanese settlements in islands 2/3.000 kms from mainland Japan <_<
L.
14251 on my first try. It helps when it puts me next a sign. The one I was off by most was some place called Nana. I thought it might be Singapore.
You got 14071 points in total
My first go around :smoke:
On my second run, saw a sign for Warsaw and guessed within 5km, got 6,000 point so yeah you can get more than 3k.

16,324 my highest score now, damn random ass country farmland with 2009 terrible resolution. Could have been anywhere from Ohio to North Dakota.
I got 16,094 first run through. Was within 50km of Abbey, SK.
Three of the five I guessed were in Mexico.
Middle of palermo, 1.2 km away, saw a tour bus. :P
17724 highest now.
It's an interesting idea, but too often I've gotten the "stuck on a dusty road in the middle of nowhere" location.
Damn thing put me in the middle of a classroom lecture hall with no way out. :glare:
Still got within 2200km, though.
In front of the Grass Valley Oregon post office. Pinpointed within 1km!

I had a game with only dusty roads in Australia.
Being bored, I've been doing a Google Street View tour of Bulgaria...
...man, that place is bleak. But I can understand pretty much all the signage. Maybe I should rescue a poor, HOTT Bulgarian lass. :P

Is there such a thing?
I've heard Bulgaria and Romania have lots of attractive ladies. Merely hearsay however.

One of my vendors has an office in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and is constantly rotating support dudes to California on six-month appointments to help them get more proficient with both the software and their English. Trust me my friend, the ladies are attractive. I'm beginning to wonder if it's illegal to be a young woman in Romania and be unattractive. :hmm:
Oh I'm not doubting the Romanians. I think I had my first erection when I was 10 watching Nadia Commenici. It's the Bulgarians I'm questioning.

Holy shit. I was playing this, and I get a road in the middle of forest. No signs, no nothing.
But I say to myself - this looks familiar. Look at the types of trees, look how small they are - that's go to be the Yukon!
And it was.
Small because of the short summer, or small because 2nd growth?

Short summer / long winter.
The Yukon seems to be a favourite of the game designers, it appears quite a lot. Although not as much as the boondoncks of Australia.
Was playing this again and scored 24607, my best. http://bit.ly/11SUDnL
I saw a Google streetview car in South-Western Alberta yesterday, apparently they're in the area for a week.
