Dunno if real, but if so - that's one ambitious bird!

Obviously, Canadian parents should be allowed to carry concealed eagles, just in case.
 Seems like the kind of thing that has to be fake, but it doesn't look obviously fake to me.
Hey, eagles gotta eat, too.
Hey, it happens.
At my dad & his GF's cabin, if you have a small dog roam outside unleashed, you will lose it to the eagles.
Good thing that was one chubby toddler.
Why wouldn't it be real? Totally plausible given the mass of the eagle and the kid.

Unlikely chance of filming the bird at just the right moment. It is possible I suppose, but so is some sort of fakery. Myself, I have no idea.
I suppose it could be faked, but even if that turns out to be the case, the scenario is plausible.
This is the original Montreal eagle thread, goddamit! :P
There are plenty of videos on Youtube with eagles attacking goats or even wolves, so I don't see why a human baby wouldn't be possible prey for an eagle.
Lots of people with cameras on Mount Royal. It's plausible someone saw the eagle in the sky and started filming it.

Aren't you his GF?
While the big eagles do go after larger things from time to time, they strike to wound at those times, not to carry off. An older eagle like that would have shredded the jacket in such a strike. The intent is to stun/kill so that the bird can come back to feed.
Even big fish can cause problems for bald eagles - they don't just strain mightily when they get something too large, they either give up right away or crash.

Yes and no, it's very situational.

We need eagle control or a total ban.

No. As I said above, we need to allow parents to carry concealed eagles.
Anyway, I blame the Americans. They are jealous of our kid's test scores and are sending their national symbol to get revenge!
Oh, and as expected, it's a hoax. ;)

Twas tainted.
QuoteDavid Bird, a McGill University professor of wildlife biology, had said earlier that he doubted the video's authenticity.
Bird said he has never heard of an eagle grabbing a child.
"The public has nothing to fear from bald eagles in that regard of picking up their babies, and for that matter, even their pets."
Of course he would say that.
It's a hoax. It was made by four students in 3D animation for an assignment yesterday, and their teacher confirmed.
Case closed.

That or grallon has finally ascended to godhood.
I hope they got an A on the assignment.
It would be funny if the prof marked them down for not being realistic enough. :D

Goats weigh more than a toddler, and eagles will attack them, so I just don't think that's true.
Shame its a hoax, seemed feasible and awesome,

Pedantic people should be carried off by eagles. :P
Also, they should note it was a faked-up eagle, so presumably of no actual species ...

Tim, you are a moron.
Of course eagles attack larger things, however they DON'T PICK THEM UP and try to fly off. Jesus.

Insults should be accurate and the video was clearly labelled. Though the McGill professor had the same issue so perhaps Canadians have problems paying attention to details. :P

The video was also "clearly labelled" as being about an eagle picking up a child, when in fact it was computer-generated fakery.
But Americans apparently are very gullible - they believe what an admitted faker says. :P
Whereas Canadians just pick whatever bird they think of. Surprised you didn't say stork. :P
