I think the Lions are gonna get smeared. I have seen people picking the Lions to win but they won't be making another 20+ point comeback on Rodgers and the Pack. I would like to be wrong though.
Stafford looked like a little girl against the Bears. I would be interested to see the good Lions play.
Neil's right, that Thursday lineup is great.
two of three away teams are gonna win on Turkey day.

I imagine him screaming "My QB, My!" while doing it too.
The next stop on the Shanahan march to 3-13 is Seattle. Hide the women and children.
Schaub has been officially put on IR. The Texans signed Kellen Clemmens to be the new QB3 behind Leinart and TJ Yates (rookie, 5th round pick out of.....UNC I think it was).
E: Clemmens was apparently signed over the other dudes they brought in (including old man Jeff Garcia) because he was with the Redskins in training camp. They run ~the same offense as the Texans, only shitty (:P), so he has at least some time in the system in case the Any Given Sunday situation happens.
E2: Oops his name is Clemens. Whatever. Not like it matters.
Chiefs claim Orton. :(

Wait a minute. The Texans passed up Jeff Garcia? In favour of Kellen Clemens and Matt Leinart?
Well, I guess we can pencil the Titans into the #4 seed in the AFC. :(
Garcia is 41 and hasn't played a meaningful game in the NFL in 3 years, time to cut the cord.
Jeff George is ready.

Garcia wasn't very good in the UFL. I don't want to think about how bad it would be for him in the NFL with like 4 days of practice.

Found it. Heh.
Barf.
Detroit is hanging in there pretty good. Maybe they'll do one of those second-half explosions that they do.
They need to stop with the penalties or they are gonna be in trouble.
The route is on.
EDIT: And Suh is an idiot. He needs to figure out how to control himself.
What he needs to learn is subtetly.
Pretty sure I started Stafford in my other fantasy league, too. Damnit.
Stafford needs to stop trying to throw to Pettigrew, since that's how he gets intercepted.
No Ray Ray. :(

Yeah, but at least they stopped them on the first series. A good omen.
I loved how Vontae Leach totally put Willis on his ass on that Ray Rice run.
Those were two horrific play calls at the goal line.
Yes. Yes they were.
I understand how people get frustrated with Cam. Running a stretch on the one-inch line where the play depends on Ed Dickson blocking someone? A QB draw?

No shit. I say, 4 plays up the gut or over the tackle. You don't get it, you don't deserve it.
Man, Webb is really turning into a stud at corner.
Looks like one big play wins it for either team.
And Balmer might have used up theirs on that 50 yard pass interference.
Unless Ravens give up turnover here, this game is over.
Poor Alex Smith is taking a pounding tonight.
Yeah the line is being chewed up by Ngata and Ravens D.
Don't understand why the Ravens think they can run wide in short yardage against the Niners, they're far too fast to the sidelines.
One TD isn't enough of a lead.

Which is a little crazy, because the D line has been a little off lately, and the 49ers have an O-line that I really respect.
And the Ravens O-line is really starting to dominate.
Or alternatively, the first team to put together a quarter-long drive wins the game.
Man, where'd that come from.

No shit. What would the Ravens in 2000 have done against that East-West bullshit? Hit it in the fucking mouth, that's what. And the 49ers have the speed to do exactly that.
Ouch. Ginn really should have caught that.
Good game, Niners.
Hell. Of. A. Game.
You don't throw the clutch ball to the over-drafted kick returner. Imma jus sayin.
That being said, the Niners are still humanity's only hope to stop the Packerkrieg.
I look towards a meet with Pack, think Niners can beat em.

Oh, I think so. The Niners can skewer that Pack secondary. And I don't think the Pack, while they've got a nice LB crew, can't handle the Niners' short game of Gore and Davis.
The Niners will have to get to Rodgers, like the Ravens got to Smith. That's the key.
Oh yeah, and Suh is fucking psychopath. Today, combined with his Michelle Bachmann post-game remarks, that was roid rage pure and simple.

They sure didn't get to Flacco. Then again, the Packers don't really run, and if they have any trouble with it, they'll just give it up. The Niners will be able to pin their ears back.
As for Suh, I didn't think the stomp was that bad. It looked to me like a guy freaking out when someone was entangling his leg a bit after a pileup. Now, when you add in the context of the face-to-face shit-talking and some of his previous behavior, I see a guy who is out of control and needs to learn to check his aggression once the whistle goes. Whether that's chemically-induced or not, I can't say, and I didn't see the post-game interview.

What do you think will happen to him? 1 or 2 game suspension?
You guys are crazy if you think the niners can beat the packers. They let Flacco pass on them ffs. The Packers secondary may be iffy, but it's only because theyre always trying to jump routes, and take off whole series when theyre up by 3 touchdowns. I mean, they lead the league in interceptions by a huge margin. And quite frankly Alex Smith is a mediocre quarterback, who nearly lost his job last season.
They have the second least give aways(one behind the texans of all teams), score the most points per game, and average 400 yards a game. While the defense is worrisome, I'm not worried about the niners from the NFC west.
Much more worried about the Saints and a healthy bears team.
A healthy Bears team that plays their minds out loses by 4 to the Packers.
Packers are invincible this year.
After seeing the reverse angle on the Suh Stomp, he's super guilty. It's marginally less bad than the Haynesworth attack on Gurode, but only because he wasn't trying to stomp his head.

So....do you stop using Daniels as much now that he absolutely must be ready to go if something happens to Yates? Dreesen and Casey are fine catching the ball. Not as good as Daniels, but I'm getting a little bugged out about the Texans not having a damn QB because of some freak play.

Or..not...they just gave one of the two guys in on the second sack a roughing the passer flag. They hit him at almost the same time. The refs mic suddenly didn't work on that one though for some reason, so no one knows what the deal is. Kubiak seems....angry.
Fuck them. They weren't able to call anything on that next sack. Gabbert is freaking out in the pocket.

Anyone else see this in the Chargers-Broncos game yesterday? They had the camera on him for a good 10 seconds-- how could they not have known he was peeing?? I mean, I had to point it out to my parents, but for the network guy directing the broadcast, he would have to have recognized that.
At least Novak kneels in front of the Gatorade table. Yesterday in the 1st quarter Pacman Jones decided to take a leak standing up *behind* the table. He had his back to the front row, but it was obvious what he was doing. I think I saw two other players take a leak in the 4th quarter in the Bengals game. Must have been the day for it. Wonder if Gatorade changed their formula & inadvertently put in a diuretic?

Sage doesn't get grief for trying to make a play. He gets grief for almost singlehandedly losing that game. 10 point lead and the ball with 4:00 left, and the QB turns the ball over three times?? Fuck yes he's going to catch some shit.
Now to be fair, the third turnover was an INT in desperation time after he had already pissed the game away. The first was the Rosencopter fumble that went in for a TD. The second was a fumble on the Houston 21 yard line with 2 something left on the clock.
Edit: This is not to say I wouldn't rather have Sage than TJ Yates starting. If he gets through the waiver wire all the way to the Texans, I hope they pick him up.

As they said on the broadcast, at least try to tip it & try to make a play that way. I generally like Bowe, but that was a pathetic lack of effort.

Seems like that's more of a "for now" thing. They don't really give a shit about the Jags in Jville. They've had the tarps over big chunks of that stadium for a long time.
It was an idiotic location for the expansion team anyway. I loved how in the lead up everybody was talking about San Antonio and Baltimore being slam dunks for the two new expansion teams..and then mysteriously two darkhorses in Jacksonville and Carolina won out of nowhere.
Very mysterious indeed.

Jake Del Rio is Fired! DC (Mel) Tucker is taking over.
Fools. They have Mark Duffner right there on their staff and they don't utilize him for anything other than LB coach.
Oh well-- their loss. That keeps The Duff free to make his glorious return to Cincinnati whenever the Marvin Lewis era ends.

Moving to where? LA isn't ready.
Well SUPPOSEDLY they're going to stay in Jacksonville.

To be fair, the stadium holds 73,000 without the seats covered, and it looks like only a handful of teams are consistently drawing crowds that size (though a few more probably would if their stadiums were larger).
What's sad is that the Bengals-Browns game here Sunday only drew 48,000-ish. Bengals have only sold out one home game so far-- Pittsburgh

Wasn't the commish quoted earlier this year as saying that the NFL would put a team in London by 2020?

Alltell, or whatever it's called now? They make like 67,000 tickets available per game and almost never sell it out, let alone actually get all the ticketholders through the gates. The place looked about half full for Sundays game against the Texans (ESPN says attendance was 63,000, but there weren't even close to that many people there), and they're like 10,000 short and are trying to avoid a blackout for their game on Monday.
Check it out:

Refocus away from the cheerleader and check out the empty seats behind her. The overhead shots, from the blimp or whatever, where you could see the upper levels, were just brutal. To be fair, this one here is probably from halftime or ~the 4th Q when there were about 25,000 people left and I put it there more because I like cheerleaders, but I'll be damned if there weren't big gaps even in the sections down close to the field and even early in the game.
Also, the Texans signed Delhomme. SUPER BOWL BOUND

Meh, they'll go to LA and fail there too.
Apparently the lease is ridiculously hard to get out from, it would take at least 4-5 years, and even then it's iffy.

The ghosts of all former USC greats conspire to destroy any football team who dares to compete with the Trojans in LA. That is why UCLA inexplicably hired Rick Neuheisel, LA Rams traded away Eric Dickerson, and Marcus Allen drove Al Davis to insanity.
Chester McGlockton, Stanford assistant coach and former Pro Bowler for the Raiders (among other teams) died at 42. It is stunning how much an NFL career shortens these guys lives.

Oh man. A little more info on why the Texans offense went completely vanilla in the second half vs the Jags: Even though they had Owen Daniels practicing taking snaps from under center at halftime (!), Kubiak decided that wasn't a viable option unless there was just no possible way around it, so he started calling plays with the sole purpose of protecting Yates, the last "real" QB on the active roster for the day. Run run run punt, for the most part, aside from a real quick pass here and there to at least try to loosen things up a little.
Apparently, the collective blood pressure went up a bit when Yates took off and ran on a play in the 2nd half. He slid quite nicely, although a little short of the first down marker, but still took a big hit in the head. I remember him being more pissed off about not getting a flag for that than anything, so.....well.....it's good that he's young in situations like that, I guess.
They'll have at least two active again on Sunday against Atlanta: Yates and Clemens. They might activate Delhomme as well, even though he won't be ready for anything, just to avoid the above situation again. Of course, by that point they'd be down to their 4th or 5th choice at QB (depending on where Delhomme goes on the depth chart), so who really cares if he isn't a master of the playbook?
I can understand not wanting to deal with the drama, but surely Favre is still significantly better than those 3

Favre fucking sucks and needs to stay retired.
Edit: They also gave Jeff Garcia a chance to make the team. Twice. He's done for good too, most likely.

No, probably not. Besides, bringing Favre back would be a crime against humanity.

Seriously. I'd much rather see what the rookie can do than watch Favre's dumbass go out there and turn the ball over but have fun and sell Wranglers.
If the rookie somehow goes down...who cares at that point? Brett Favre isn't going to take them to the Super Bowl any more than TJ Yates or Jake Delhomme or Kellen Clemens will anyway.

Nigga please.
Drew Willy. Played qb at the University of Buffalo and was in the UFL last year. Still young and looked great in the games I saw him play in. Not an amazingly powerful arm, but accurate and able to scramble a bit. Think a younger Rich Gannon. Someone deserves to give the kid a shot. Apparently he's on San Diego's practice squad, but he's worth a look.
So, are the Texans going to get McNabb?
Bears was my guess. Are waiver priorities based on current records?
