That...is awesome. :)
Elect a woman? No way. Plus she ruined HP.
I agree this is wonderful in so very many ways. The one that confuses me most though is the sneaking suspicion I have that Michael Nyman did the soundtrack.
Incidentally I also recommend this magnificent attack ad:

That woman struck me as not very bright ever since she was McCain's adviser. Then again, it's tough to look smart while delivering the Republican talking points.

Yeah, was gonna post that, that's the craziest attack ad I've EVER seen. Who knew this could happen over the race for coroner of New Orleans?

In Cincinnati our coroner is elected, but the dude (a Democrat) ran unopposed the last 2 elections. I'd probably vote for the dude even if he had a Republican running against him; I've gotten to hang out with him a few times & he's hilarious.

How would a coroners political beliefs have any impact on his job performance?

Disagree. It is so awful it is awesome.
I also fucking despise people who use only their first names when they want me to think they are engaged in serious business. "Carly for Senate" (or whatever office she is running for) destroys her cred right there.

I forgot. Elected coroners? WTF? Do you also elect postmen? Street sweepers?
There's an old saying if somebody's disliked, they "couldn't be elected dog-catcher."

Postmen have to pass a postal worker exam and are federal employees. Street sweepers are typically contract bidders for the municipality.
Interesting anecdote: even though the United States Postal Services maintains its own HR and pays from its own revenue rather than the treasury, postal workers are barred as federal employees from holding elected positions in the federal government; a friend of mine sued the government so he could run as a senatorial candidate for the Green Party and lost.

Except I believe that ACO (animal control officer) has usually been absorbed into either local police force or the county sheriff's office.

Oh, it is. If I'd felt particularly cruel, I'd have linked a huge org chart showing positions that must be elected at the municipal, county/parish, state, and federal level. :contract:

I think I am a tad jealous of the American political process in this single instance. These "attack ads" are so much more fun to watch than our boring and sanctimonious old "Party Political Broadcasts". :(

Brutal ad. :pinch:
QuoteAs attack ads, though, it pales beside this barn-burner aimed at Pat Quinn in the Illinois Democrat governor's primary, using a savage clip of the late and much-beloved former mayor of Chicago, Harold Washington:

Ouch. Somebody didn't bribe hard enough. He should have known better, given how Chicago politics is based entirely on graft. I can't think of a single politician to come out of Chicago who wasn't irredeemably corrupt.
No idea how old this is, but I just came across it for the first time.
