I'm sure the short week didn't help, but man, Pittsburgh looked beyond tired. They looked like they didn't even want to be there.
From crappy snaps to dropped passes, they were simply going through the motions.
Good for the Brownies, though. Got that 6 year monkey off their back. That makes Bernie smile.
Women....Can't live with 'em, can't blind them with bleach.
QuoteA woman who says she is the mother of Terrell Suggs' children has filed a $70 million lawsuit in Baltimore County Circuit Court, alleging that the Ravens linebacker abused her on two occasions last month.
Candace Williams, 26, filed the suit Tuesday along with a separate complaint seeking custody of their two small children. The cases come on the heels of a restraining order she filed last week against Suggs, claiming that he knocked her to the ground and spilled bleach on her and their infant son. A hearing in that case is scheduled today.
Williams alleges that on Nov. 3, Suggs, 27, struck her in the face - breaking her nose - and threatened to kill her. She also claims that on Nov. 29, Suggs threatened to drown her with bleach "and did in fact pour chemical bleach on [her] entire body as she was forced to stay on the ground." It was for that alleged incident that she sought a restraining order.
Suggs has not been charged with a crime in connection with any of Williams' allegations, and police said they have no record of any emergency calls from the couple's Windsor Mills home.
Addressing reporters Thursday, Suggs said he could not comment on the situation.
"I can't talk about all that right now," Suggs said. "You know I've always been fair. When I can address it, I will. I really have nothing to hide. As bad as I want to talk about it right now, I can't. When I'm able to do it, you guys can ask a million and one questions about it, and I would be glad to answer them for you. Right now, to be safe, I really can't answer any questions about it."
Documents for the protective order, which provide more detail about the alleged altercation, show that the argument was over game-day tickets, and a judge who granted the temporary restraining order said there were visible cuts on Williams' chest. According to records, Williams filed for the protective order at the North Avenue District Court on their son's first birthday.
She is seeking $20 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages. Reached by phone Thursday, her attorney, Eric Gordon, declined to comment.
In the custody complaint, Williams says that she and Suggs are "unable to effectively communicate as to the major issues regarding the minor children" because of Suggs' "irrational and violent tendencies." She says Suggs earns more than $20 million a year and should be required to pay child support.
Suggs wouldn't say whether he would attend today's hearing related to the restraining order but said he didn't think this would be a distraction for the team.
"I think we'll be all right," Suggs said. "It's one of those things you have to deal with. I'm still coming to work. I'm still getting ready for Sunday."
Suggs has missed the past three games with a sprained ligament in his left knee, but he could be available for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Vikes are favored by a TD over the Bungles. Vikes should be pissed off from last week & therefore well motivated to thrash the Bungles. Out of their last 3 games vs. subpar teams, the Bungles lost one game & limped through the other 2 with unconvincing wins.
There's no reason to expect the Bungles to win this one. Hence, the Bungles will pull off the upset.

There's always a guy who is theoretically worth the pick. Nevertheless, there isn't a rookie alive who is worth the money that first overall picks are getting these days.

They've really put the kabosh on a lot of the innovativeness of the offense; for whatever reason--and I blame Cam Cameron--they're trying to establish a more conventional offense for Flacco, as opposed to last year where they supported his rookie-ism with a 60% rushing game and Wildcat stuff to keep his mistakes to a minimum.
Personally, I think they've rushed Flacco too fast from the short leash to Flacco Unleashed. The strength of the offense is still the running game, not a bunch of possession receivers. And he's still a sophomor QB.
But yeah, with a natural athlete like Smith, I'd still try to find a way to get him onto the field a couple times a game, even if it's as a receiver or a decoy.
Gracias!

QuoteOh no! Patriots mascot nabbed in prostitution sting
Fri Dec 11,2009 7:00 PM ET By Rick Chandler
I don't know how to say this so I'm just going to say it; Pat the Patriot, beloved mascot of the New England Patriots and inspiration to Boston-area children since 1960, has been arrested in a prostitution sting. But it gets worse: Evidently Pat was caught answering a naughty ad on Craigslist. Placed by a policeman in Rhode Island.
Rumor has it that local prostitutes called Pat by his other nickname, "The Revolutionary Minuteman." They did not mean it as a compliment.
Law enforcement sources told NBC 10 one of the johns who tried to pay for sex with a prostitute was 47-year-old Robert Sormanti of Warwick. He is one of several people who plays the Pat the Patriot mascot.
"The Pat Patriot mascot costume is worn by multiple people, each of whom are held responsible and accountable for their actions. The individual in question has been suspended. The mascot responsibilities will continue to be fulfilled by others," said a statement from the team.
Sormanti was one of eight johns arrested in the sting, and is one of several people who play Pat the Patriot. Who knows precisely what's been going on in that costume since he's occupied it?
As if a team mascot doesn't have it bad enough; now the other people who wear the Pat costume are going to have to hear it from drunken Boston fans for the rest of eternity. Two more regular-season home games, including Sunday vs. Carolina. Get your signs ready.

Also, your boy Troy has his own radio show on Monday evenings, and has made his intentions known that he's a quarterback, not a running back or wide receiver. He's done it in a nice way, but I'm sure the coaching staff knows his feelings.
It was a very pathetic game. It's tough being a fan these days. The Steelers play for Championships each season, so anything less than a title game is a disappointment. I wish I could be a fan of a team that's major goal is just to make the playoffs such as the Bungles and Ravens.
I have to wonder how much Ward's statements about Ben got to him or the team?!? The Offense had little heart or motivation out there.

Some guys are simply better coordinators than head coaches. He's proven himself as a points monger before when he's had the talent.
I see two problems with the Ravens offense, and how he's working it: he's trying to establish Flacco as a force still too early in his career, and with wide receivers that do not complement the type of offense he wants. They've got no bona fide #1. Mason and Clayton are cookie cutter copies of each other, excellent route runners with great hands, but not the speed on the outside they need. They need a Marshall, a Moulds, a Jackson. Somebody bigger, faster, stronger.
Look at what happens when they play defensive teams with better athletes at CB, (e.g., the Bengals); the deep routes and outside lanes get shut down, and the field gets shortened. Next thing you know, it's 3rd and 7, and dumping 3 yard passes off to Rice, hoping he makes the first. That's no way to run a railroad.
Personally, I feel the Ravens are still built as a run-first team, and they've gotten away from that to their detriment.

I think that was his key failing at the head of the Dolphins. They've had a good run offense ever since they picked up Ronnie Brown, but it was underutilized before Sparano, and Cameron was one of the worst offenders for that. He made his name in a West Coast offense, with a strong quarterback, one or two key receivers, and a catch-and-run halfback. He keeps trying to force that formula on teams that aren't built for it, though.

Friday, December 11, 2009

AKRON, Ohio -- Police in Ohio say the mother of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison has been charged with assault following a brawl at a game-watching party in a community hall.
Akron police say 62-year-old Mildred Harrison was one of three people cited after the fight at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post Thursday.
Police say it's not clear why the party turned violent about 10 p.m., during Cleveland's 13-6 upset of division foe Pittsburgh.
Victims have told police they were pushed, punched and struck with beer bottles.
Harrison is due in Akron Municipal Court on Thursday. She declined to comment to the Akron Beacon-Journal when reached by telephone at her Akron home Friday.
James Harrison was the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.

This is far from the biggest meltdown of a reigning Superbowl Champion. The Steelers have had a lot of tries at being reigning Superbowl champs, and it's clearly not one of their better ones. They went 8-8 after Cowher's win and finished 3rd in the AFC North. Chances are good that they will do the same this year especially after they end the Raven's playoff chances.
The Ravens only have had one chance to being defending Superbowl Champions and they got their asses handed to them in the playoffs by the Steelers.

Probably because the schedule was done while Favre was still retired and when everybody thought that the Bengals were going to be in contention for the worst team in history (an impression that slipped away at some point between Week 3 and Week 5).

Yeah, but they have Elway's retirement as an excuse. The Steelers are essentially the same team that won it all last year.
Injuries have plagued them this season just like the last time they won the Superbowl. The defense is missing two major components that the Steelers have been unable to replace. Aaron Smith makes the whole thing go by providing pressure on the front line that allows the linebackers to do their thing. Troy is a huge loss in the middle and blitzing that they cannot replace. Throw in the fact the Parker has been a shadow of himself and the Steelers aren't the same team as last year.
Their defense and run game are pathetic.
The Patriots' meltdown last year was sweeter than this, though.

WHile the MNF game is fixed at the start of the season, the SNF game is picked by NBC a week or two ahead of time. Of course Fox/CBS are also able to protect some of their games from being stolen by NBC, so that's why I assume Minny/cincy is at 1pm.

Big day for Adrian Peterson so far.
On one side I'm happy that Moss isn't producing much for Patriots, but on the other I would like him to at least not give me minus points. :(

Pretty sure even the Texans can't pull off an L up 34 - 7 with 2:00 left. So:
And the Bungles lose as I expected, led by their most popular player "false start".
And the Vikes win. :)
I was a tad worried after the loss to the Cards (and the early INT by Favre) but they kept running the ball and won pretty handily.
So if I have this right, they're up 2 games on everyone else, with 3 games to go. Pretty good spot to be in (although they can't catch NO for 1st overall).
Great highlight they showed during the first half of the Vikes of two Lions DBs knocking each other out on a pass play and the Ravens reciever waltzing into the end zone.

 I didn't notice that Harvin got benched. As predicted I got out in the first round.

Also. If Alex Smith goes below 26 points the Danes are in the playoff. Go Adrian!
If I'd have played Manning you'd have lost. <_<
It would have been a fluke victory anyway. My team is probably the worst one in the playoffs. :bleeding:
GODDAMN WHORE CUNT MOTHERFUCKER!
That's fucking terrible. To lose because the Vikings won.
The Randy Moss being run out of town watch is now ON!
Awesome.

Except now I'm screwed. With the Colts having locked up first place, they will only play Manning for one or two series. :(
How many wins are they from beating the Pats regular season record?
Since the Pats went 16-0, the Colts can only tie them (with 3 more wins) not beat them.
But the Colts have shown every sign of not worrying about 16-0.
I am starting my 24 hour fast and prayer service for the health of the blessed Vince Young in about an hour.

The Colts have won 22 straight regular season games over two seasons, the most the Pats ever won was 21.

Yeah, but any record that stretches out season to season is kind of a silly record.

Not at all. It speaks to the quality of the organization, or in the case of the Patriots an ability to get away with cheating, year-in, year-out.
Go Niners!
:yeah:
Have you seen a bigger Jeckell and Hyde team that the Cards? They dominate the Vikings, then look like this 8 days later. Disgusting.

Well thing is the Niners have played them close the last few seasons even when they have been stinking it up. So not too shocked, well I am with forcing 5 turnovers in half
The head ref has to be stoned. Every time he turns the mike on he fucks something up.
Frank Gore might give Seedy the win over Alci :o
7 forced turnovers by Niners D.
Man should have started them over the Ravens

Won by a single point.
Could it really be? The Danes are going to the Semis! :w00t:
Heh think Beeb might have to start Flacco over manning if he wants to get into the final.
I just have to hope Chris Johnson doesn't kill me next week and I think i can beat Alci.
Johnson is ridiculous. I forget which tool, probably neil, was laughing at me as I picked him over Lendale White. His exact words were: " LOL I HAZ YOUR TOUCHDOWNZ LOLZ!" ....In your face Flanders!

Yeah, I would never say that. That, and I didn't have Lendale White. I had Peterson, Lynch, Cadillac and Choice.
At any rate, it isn't so much that the Cardinals are wildly inconsistant as it is that the Niners are built to play in their division. The Niners would have a much better record if they showed a little less faith in their quarterback.

I can live with the turnovers by Warner, he is the ultimate high risk/high reward guy; that and he will make up for it over the course of the season. Also he is cash money in the playoffs, I can only think of 2-3 current QBs I would rather have than Warner. The problem is these backs who can't hang onto the ball; Hightower isn't good enough to keep around with all of these fumbles, hopefully it is just a rookie thing with Beanie.
No doubt though, the Cards are the Niners' bitches, and should be calling them Daddy until they can prove they can beat them.

Absolutely. I am not sure what Singletary is thinking when they are throwing the ball 40 times a game. The Niners have a reasonably good defense, they should be using that and Frank Gore to win games, not Alex Smith.
On a side note I am really starting to like Gruden on MNF, he still sounds like he is drunk but his style is growing on me.

That was me. Bitch. Not my fault Lendale went all useless. Oh well, the only Fantasy League I care about this year, I just won the regular season of. I can't do 2 leagues, it's too much of a conflict of interest. Next year I'll be back to just the LFFL.
 Haha
:o Hope his career isn't over!

Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry was seriously injured in a car accident in North Carolina on Wednesday afternoon, according to multiple published reports.
The team confirmed that Henry was involved in a serious accident in Charlotte around 2:30 p.m. ET. The team says he suffered "very serious injuries."
Preliminary reports indicate Henry may have also suffered severe head injuries, the Kentucky Post reported on its Web site.
The Bengals told WLWT-TV in Cincinnati that the wideout was in Charlotte visiting his girlfriend's family.
Henry has been on injured reserve since breaking his arm in the Nov. 8 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Now dead.

Bengals' Chris Henry seriously injured in dispute

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry suffered serious injuries after falling out of the back of a pickup truck during a domestic dispute with his fiance, police said today.
Henry was found in the road in Charlotte "apparently suffering life-threatening injuries," according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Henry was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, the local trauma unit, but spokesman Scott White said he was not listed in hospital records and had no other information.
Police say Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his unidentified fiance was driving away from a home just before noon.
"The domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry," the police said in a statement. "At some point while she was driving, Mr. Henry came out of the back of the vehicle."
Henry broke his left forearm during a win over Baltimore on Nov. 8, had surgery and was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Charlotte is home to his fiance's parents, the Bengals said.
Team spokesman Jack Brennan said he had little information other than Henry was badly hurt.
"We are aware he was in an accident and that his injuries are very serious," Brennan said. "We are obviously staying in touch with the situation and are ready to offer whatever assistance we can."
Henry is in the final year of his contract with the Bengals, who let him go after his fifth arrest following the 2007 season. Owner Mike Brown then brought him back a few months later, signing him to a two-year deal, and Henry had stayed out of trouble since his return.
A deep threat, he was fourth among Bengals receivers this season with 12 catches for 236 yards and two touchdowns at the time of his injury.
Fox says he is on life support and the situation is "dire" :(

QuoteCincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry is on life support after falling out of the back of a pickup truck in North Carolina, a source has told FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez. The source described the situation as "dire."
Henry was found in the road in south Charlotte "apparently suffering life-threatening injuries," according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Henry was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, the local trauma unit, but spokesman Scott White said Henry was not listed in hospital records and had no other information.

A police spokesman later said no charges would be filed Wednesday.
Henry was found on a residential street about a half mile away from the home when police were called to the scene after a medic report that a man was down.
A woman who identified herself as the fiancee's mother but declined to give her name told the Charlotte Observer that Henry and his fiancee had been staying at her house while he was on injured reserve and they were making plans for their wedding.
She said she wasn't home at the time of the dispute and wasn't sure exactly what happened, but she said her daughter is at Henry's bedside at the hospital.
Henry's agent, Kenneth Rush, did not immediately return phone and e-mail messages left by The Associated Press.

The Bengals' third-round pick from West Virginia in 2005, the speedy Henry was a key part of Cincinnati's playoff team as a rookie. He's caught 119 passes for 1,826 yards and 21 touchdowns in five seasons, but has also been plagued by off-field woes.
He was suspended for two games by the league in 2006 and the first eight games of 2007. The Bengals released him following his fifth arrest that offseason, but Brown decided to bring him back during training camp over the objections of coach Marvin Lewis.
Henry had to miss the first four games of 2008, his punishment for the offseason arrest on an assault charge. The charge was dropped after his trial ended in a hung jury.

I hate to talk bad about someone fighting for their life, but no shit. Five arrests, three suspensions and falling out of a moving pick-up in a domestic "situation".
Hope he pulls through though.
I too don't like to talk bad, but he really is pulling for a darwin award for all his actions leading up to this nonsense.
