Having successfully banned minarets, the Swiss have moved to the next threat: Jewish and Muslim cemetaries.
QuoteSwiss leader calls for Jewish cemetery ban
December 3, 2009
BERLIN (JTA) -- A mainstream Swiss political leader is calling for a ban on separate Muslim and Jewish cemeteries.
Christophe Darbellay, president of the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland, made the statement in a television interview Tuesday, two days after Swiss voters passed an initiative to ban minarets.
The anti-minaret initiative came from the opposition ultra-conservative Swiss People's Party and other right-wing political organizations. Critics say Darbellay is starting a "crusade" to attract voters by proposing similarly xenophobic measures.
Mainstream politicians and religious leaders across Europe have reacted with dismay to the anti-minaret vote.
According to the Swiss online daily Tagesanzeiger, Darbellay also wants to ban the wearing of burkas, head-to-toe veils worn by some fundamentalist Muslim women.
Darbellay reportedly said that existing cemeteries would not be affected by a ban, but that there should be no separate cemeteries in the future.
The Swiss People's Party called for crackdowns on expressions of Muslim fundamentalism in 2006. Observers said the demand for separate cemeteries is an escalation.

Charming.
Hmmmm...Maybe the Israelis and Palestinians can finally come together and unite against their common Swiss enemy.
It's time to hate the Swiss.

Zuricheads! Cuckoo cuckoos! Land locked losers! Neutral ninnies! Boring bankers! Chalet pimps!
No wonder the Nazis left the Swiss alone.
while desegragation is a nice idea I doubt people in cemetaries have much use for it...
Here come the racist Europeans.. !
Why would they want Muslims buried in the same cemetery as them?
Well it's only a matter of time.
This will be a counterproductive move by the Swiss when they begin the next Holocaust. Mass graves are so much more efficient.
Well, I would like to say two things:
1. a Swiss is not 'the Swiss'...
2. If Christophe Darbellay thinks xenophobes will like his idea then he's is clueless. Does he really think xenophobes would love to share _their_ cemeteries with Muslims and Jews? and Christian Churches? Does he really think they would like multi-religious cemeteries imposed on them by law?
Most persons voting for the minaret ban probably did so because they don't like immigrant communities becoming so visible, so mainstream... and he wants to force them to share cemeteries? Perhaps Darbellay is no xenophobe after all...

To be honest, I don't believe in democracy as a "decision making tool". To me, democracy is about the form of appointing (and dismissing) the government, not about everybody having a say in every decision being made. But then again, I've always been a fan of a representative democracy, rather than its direct kind.
I think in a representative democracy, there is at least a chance that the ruling politicians will try to balance popular but stupid decisions with the unpopular but wise ones, and then at the end of their term get judged on the overall balance of both. So in essence, you are forcing a sort of deferred benefit mechanism, and political decisions are being judged in retrospect (sure, 3-4 years may be not enough to assess long term consequences of a decision, but it's better than nothing). In direct democracy this mechanism is gone and immediate gratification rules the day.

Not true. They are all just played by the same old dude.
Stupid idea. It's not the dead that are a problem - it's the living. They should concentre their attacks on muslims - that's always fair game. The XXIth century jews. :P Except of course jews didn't deserve their fate - muslims do. They earn it every day.

Sheesh... why bother with the baby steps then? Why not just come right out and propose deporting all of Switzerland's Muslims?

QuoteStories appearing on several Ukrainian Web sites claim Israel has brought around some 25,000 Ukrainian children into the country over the past two years in order to harvest their organs.
The claim, which was made by a Ukrainian philosophy professor and author at a pseudo-academic conference in Kiev five days ago, is the latest expression of a wave of anti-Semitism in the country.
It comes a few months after a Swedish tabloid ran an article alleging that Israel Defense Forces soldiers have killed Palestinian civilians for their organs.
Vyacheslav Gudin told the estimated 300 attendees of the Kiev conference a detailed story about a Ukrainian man’s fruitless search for 15 children who had been adopted in Israel.
The children, Gudin said, had clearly been taken by Israeli medical centers, where they were used for “spare parts.” Gudin said it was essential that all Ukrainians be made aware of the genocide Israel was perpetrating.

The Swiss got overzealous for a moment. If the Muslims ever have a secret society to control the world like the Jews have, we'll all be in deep trouble.

That's appalling if true, not to mention highly illegal.
If there are no new Jewish cemetaries it's much easier to cover up rapid reduction in Jews.

The legend is no Chinese immigrant ever dies officially because triads use their documents to introduce new immigrants. It seems based in real cases of people trying to enter Europe using another person's documents (probably robbed), but reality is far less thrilling: there are very few Chinese burials in Spain because they want to be buried back in their birth place. Many people don't like the idea of being buried in a foreign country, I can attest airlines do carry many coffins in their cargo holds every day... actually air cargo terminals usually are built with a dedicated morgue.

Plus ancestors and hometowns are pretty big things in Confucianism, so that's another reason why they'd want their corpse sent back home.
