There's one guy who shows up from time to time at my karaoke hang who is strongly believed to have lit up one girlfriend.
I don't think so, can't recall anyone.
My grandmother used to beat her kids(my mother & siblings).
And how.
Not that I am aware of.
Personally or professionally?
Yes?

Professional Woman-Smacker? Where do I sign up, nyuk
I am not aware of anyone I know more than passingly hitting or striking a woman.
Back when I was 20 or so one of my best friend's girlfriend broke up with him, allegedly because 'things got physical'. I'm 99% sure he didn't strike her, but pushed/restrained/moved her from one spot in the room to the other against her will; not that any of those are not bad. Knowing him it wouldn't be the biggest shock in the world, but she was a drama queen and when they got drunk together things always got a bit tense. She didn't want to be with him anymore, but didn't make a huge deal out of it either so I just let it be and continued to be friends with both separately.
Not that I know of.
Dawid knew that one gay couple where one guy regularly punched the other, though.
One that I know of. I also have a male friend who was abused by his girlfriend.
Never, as far as I know. Probably wouldn't associate with a guy who did. Unless he was really, really repentant.
Yes, but it was more a case of me being a friend of the victim, and thus knowing the asshole by extension. We weren't aware of it until the girl finally left him.
Not that I know of.
Nope. Never.
Not that I know of, though I have a friend who does martial arts with his girlfriend.

Sure. First name basis.
Well, a few dozen then, professionally. And I've become friendly with a few clients who have domestic assault convictions in their past (though that's hardly conclusive that they'd really been "woman beaters" in the classic sense).
Personally...one shitty alcoholic my cousin married. My fondest memory of him is when we hosted a family reunion at our house when I was a kid, and he discreetly (at least in his own mind) made a few trips of filling his pockets with beer from the cooler and moseying over to deposit them in his car for later. :D
Oh and the boyfriend of one of my little sister's friends.

My adoptive uncle apparently pushed one his girlfriend in a door frame, after one of her many jealousy crisis. And he apparently slapped his daughter too, wich sent him back in jail. Well, I think he spent 15 years in&out of jail. Before that, it was only for drunken disorder.
Never considered him a wife beater or woman abuser of any kind though.

You know, I don't think he did. :D Even though everyone else did, and holidays were held in a fog of cigarette, cigar, and pipe smoke that those little smoke-eaters strained to deal with. Matching ashtrays with each place setting in the nice china, that's something you don't find much anymore.

Probably. This smoking, drinking, loan sharking, beer stealing bastard is truly an appalling specimen of humanity.
Probably did something all liberal artsy, too.

A few payday loans, but nothing serious.
EDIT: Actually, the epilogue is that they had a son who has severe behavioral-developmental problems (not autism I don't think, more like ultra-ADHD), got divorced, and then I guess he's pulled it together since, and has played a decent role in his son's life thus far. :)

Not that I know of.
No one has ever out-and-out admitted it, but it's been strongly implied my father-in-law was physically abusive with my mother-in-law.
A former boss of mine had heavy rumours that her husband would hit her.
I can say with some confidence that most likely everyone on this forum knows at least one person who is physically abusive with their partner. It's such a wide-spread offence. It's just never discussed.
Everybody poo-poohs the abuse, but nobody ever mentions the make-up sex.

No idea. None of my business.
Not aware of any. Not that I will ask.
Nope. can't think of anyone I've known. I've known of plenty due to my mother's work as a school counselor and her total disregard for students' privacy (at least around me and my brother).

You all realize this, yet oppose surveillance. Does that mean you're enablers of spousal abuse? Yeah, it does.
Anyway, I've known women who had been in abusive relationships, and I represented a CDV defendant once. I saw it happen once when I was about sixteen, and didn't know how to respond. :(

Considering his definition of "girlfriend", I'd be wary of his definition of "smack".
Do I have an odd definition of "girlfriend"? I usually have a discussion with whomever I'm having sex with and we decide that it's the case. I was under the impression this was indeed the custom of the land.
Yes. Was a piece of shit, still is a piece of shit. Even after he found Jesus. Jesus should have hid better.
Given that CdM's definition of 'girlfriend' is on the Austrian paradigm, I wouldn't take it to heart, Ide.

Falling in love within 7 to 10 business days is not really the custom of the land, unless you're a 7th grader.

We haven't heard any "in love" yet, have we? Just "girlfriend".
Of course, not falling in love in something like 15 years puts CDM a lot further on the other side of that particular bell curve.

One of the neighbours where I spent my childhood beat his wife. Quite severely at times. Sunglasses couldn't cover up those bruises. He also beat his daughters.
And he threw a clog at us kids for playing soccer nearby. Charming man.
My stepdad has beaten my mum out of frustration when she's been suffering from hypoglycemia. I don't know what to add to that.
