"Live long and prosper" :(
RIP
Feeling a bit older now as well.
Great presence in the remake of Invasion of Body Snatchers for those who cannot stand Star Trek.

Thanks for the memories Lenny.

Unsurprising since he came out and said he had COPD, but still really sucks. :(
The trifecta of my youth: Star Trek: TOS, Mission: Impossible, and In Search Of.
:(
Although I have never been close to being a Trekkie, he was iconic, and I loved his Civ4 voiceovers.
I was just thinking the other day that the cultural icons of my youth are slowly fading away, and I don't seem to be replacing them with anybody.

He will be missed.
Man, the TOS crew is really getting depleted at this point. Who is left? Shatner, Takei, Nicholls, and Koenig?
All of the deaths so far have been from the big four. Shatner better watch his back.
Oh no!
:(
Damn. :(
To his credit, dude wasn't afraid to take on some risky stuff. *listens to The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins*
Shatner needs to deliver the speech from Wrath of Khan at his funeral.

Ironically, he was the only one NOT wearing pointy ears in that video.
Still, he was a true SF icon at least. A sad day for Star Trek and SF in general.
He lived long and was prosperous. :(

A lot of celebrities did that in the late 1960s/early 70s, though; Shatner, Nimoy, Keir Dullea, John Travolta, Phyllis Diller and tons of others. It's what you did to perpetuate your branding, no matter how embarrassing.

That's one of the benefits of being gay - you have a lot of cultural icons in their 30s.
Very sad news about Mr. Spock. :(
Damn
Very sad to hear that. He was a cultural force right up to the end.

R.I.P.

never seen the last one.
It was a cool show. Each episode was about like some mystery or another and Nimoy narrated. Example topics would be Bigfoot, Aliens, the Bermuda Triangle, the Pyramids of Egypt, etc.
Oh wow, an end of an era, or another one of the original cast goes down. It seems he had been pretty frail for a while, being seen in an airport in a wheel chair and on oxygen. All the more significant that he appeared in the last Star Trek film, and did the voice over for it also, "Going where no one has gone before".

My parents are cool. My mom is right now in the middle of organising another antique car rally in Warsaw (she is the vice-president of the Poland Automobile Association). And just last weekend they called me saying they decided to drive to the seaside (500 kilometres from where they live) at 6 a.m. in the morning to take a stroll on the beach and get home by evening.

Nah. My mom is his 3rd wife, he is my mom's second husband. They married around 40 years ago.

They have two other cars like this (one a large limo and one another cabriolet). My dad restored all of them from a wreck.
This is the limo:

Oh and I agree with Cal your father is cool for doing those restorations, always nice to see good cars rescued. And your mother is good for having put up with it and thrown herself into it. :)

Probably of the last generation whose first language was Yiddish too :(
That article... "Nimoy's"? What the fuck. I thought the spelling/grammar standards only slipped after Internet.
If an 11 year old were to wear pleated pants these days for going shopping he'd be beaten up within 1 minute of leaving his house.
