Inspired by the ingredient related threads, here's a place where everybody can vent their frustration at their least favourite ingredients. :P
I chose pizza as a thematic battleground because it seems that in every group of friends whenever pizza is ordered there is always a fine balance to keep in the group when deciding ingredients, as there are many of them that can make people completely forgo eating at all if they're present.
Personally, my bane are anchovies. :cthulu:
Pineapple!
You know, I've always stayed away from anchovies on a pizza, but when anchovies are added as a minor ingredient in other things they're delicious.
That being said, I never see anchovies even as an option on pizzas anymore. :(
If you dislike cheese/sauce, why would you be eating a pizza?
When I was a kid, I used to like the pizzas with a huge variety of ingredients. I wanted them all.
Now I appreciate the simple taste of a Pizza Margarita.

That is *so* heretical that I didn't even include it in the poll!
I went with olives. I wouldn't even think of stomaching an anchovy but also as BB said, they rarely exist as options now. Olives are the ones I hate that frequently show up to annoy me.

That's why I included the "specific kind" caveat. I have a friend who loathes strong cheeses in pizza, like gorgonzola, because their taste overwhelm the rest of the pizza.
As for sauce, I meant a specific one, not the generic tomato base. Stuff like BBQ sauce, or carbonara, or stuff like that.

They're offered here as well, but I also hate them with a passion similar to that of anchovies so my mind must have blocked them as a potential choice. :P
I generally enjoy olives but there is something about them on pizza that has a very jarring taste. Not a fan at all.
I have never had anchovies on a pizza before but looking at the menu of my favorite pizza joint: http://www.brooklynpie.com/rrmenu.html
it seems they have them. I will have to try it and see if they deserve the horror Larchie has for them.
Onions.
Onions have no place on Pizza.
Green olives are better than black olives on a pizza.
All of those listed can be great on a pizza, anchovies are one of my favourite ingredients on a pizza bianca. So I'm going with the anti-pineapple crowd.
I think whatever Pizza Hut used on the pizza I ate today could only be loosely called 'toppings'.
Good lord. :yucky:

I don't like them for starters, but when used for pizza you can't just take them off and eat the rest, because the super salty taste has permeated the entire thing. Try them and tell us afterwards. ;)
Btw Valmy, I'm still trying to decide if this particular pizza from your joint is potentially delicious or really fucking terrible...

I'm leaning on the terrible side for the moment.
Sounds like Austin douchebag foodie shit to me.

Probably pineapple.
Love me some anchovies, on a pizza, in a cesar, or by themselves.
Voted anchovies. I like most usual toppings. The only ones I don't like are anchovies, olives, fresh tomato and pineapple. And sausage if it's got too much fennel in it.
I like anchovies, but agree they don't work on a pizza unless they're the only topping on it, since they tend to overwhelm everything else.
Pineapple; when baked on a pizza it becomes way too sweet for me.

I think most veg works with anchovies.
Oh, I want to change my vote to spinach. What the fuck is that ever doing on a pizza?
I don't mind most things on a well made pizza with good sauce or oil base and a good crust. Most any toppings on cardboard like delivery places mostly do always ends up poor.
My favorite pizza ever was a chinese barbeque pork pizza I had at this little hole in the wall in San Francisco. That was good.
No alfredo sauce, broccoli or spinach. :yucky:

Great now i want a BBQ chicken, spinach and mushroom pizza.
Pineapple. Pizza shouldn't be sweet. I've seen broccoli too, which seems like a bad combination too.
Don't think I've ever brought myself to try anchovies. Definitely hate olives and pineapple.
I can handle the heresy of green olives over black, I can even deal with anchovies provided they're the good ones, but pineapple...that's not just simply un-American, that's an affront to all of Christendom.
Wiki suggests that Hawaiian pizza is...Canadian! :o
Un-American...and Canadian?
Now I really wonder who the hell actually enjoys pineapple on pizza.
Pineapple or novelty sauces <_<
I love anchovies in general and on pizza. But they have to be good anchovies. Unlike everything else on this poll bad anchovies on pizza can ruin the whole thing.

The occasional chick. There's always one somewhere in your past.
At least you can pick pineapple chunks off your pie. Once spinach is on there, it's slimed forever.

Pineapple blood is difficult to remove, however.
I love anchovies, but I seldom have any backers in putting it on a pizza these days. :( I will admit the saltiness that is so great in other places can become a little overpowering on a pizza, though.
Pineapple on pizza is just insanity. If there were a word like "goyish" to mean "un-Italian," it would be that. Like PB&J on a cinnamon raisin bagel.
EDIT: I guess I've heard "medigan" (American) used that way by my friends' older relatives, but not quite the same way.
I really hate mushrooms, and olives are right behind.
I guess if I had to choose one though it would be anchovies, my mom and uncle used to always share an anchovy pizza and I had to eat in the other room.
I am not a fan of hot pineapple, but I can deal with it unlike the others.

That makes sense. When it originally came out it was always paired with Canadian bacon.
But Canadian Bacon doesn't actually have links to Canada, does it?
Technically, anchovies, but it's not like they come by default on a pizza. Onions, now, those on South Jersey pizzas are the fucking devil.
I haven't been to the South Jersey shore in forever. Maybe I'll go this summer.

Internet seems to suggest that Canadians wouldn't refer to that product as Canadian bacon or even by plain term - bacon.

I guess meat. I can eat everything else.
Anchovies are meat.
P.S. If I did find some broccoli on my pizza, I'd throw it back in your face and call you a commie.
Hamburger meat/mince has no place on my pizza.
Pineapple is just wrong, and you can call it "Hawaiian" as much as you like, but it's wrong, wrong, wrong.
Also, I'd like to nominate kebab/shawarma meat as a no-no on pizza. I've even seen them served with lettuce and dressing on.
Mushrooms. Number 2 on my hated foods list. The texture is just...wrong.
Good foods that don't work on pizza wise- potato. What is wrong with some people? Just...ugh.

Shoarma pizza is the key food I miss from my time in the Netherlands. It is gorgeous.
British style doner kebab pizza...is hit and miss, tending towards bad. Nonetheless it carries the feeling of getting two for one and not having to chose one or the other.

Olives. Olives are a disgusting thing only good to make oil. I've never have anchovies on a Pizza but I like them by themselves.

Yeah, for the chocolate pizza they took the tomato out, so it was sorta cheating. No way you can simultaneously eat chocolate and tomato.
