QuoteChristie added that the Trump team wants to let businesspeople serve in government part time without having to give up their jobs in the private sector.

Sooo, one of the big problems with Clinton is her close ties with the banking sector.  How is this not orders of magnitude worse?

"Close ties" with the banking sector is one thing; allowing, say, the Commissioner of the Food & Drug Administration to keep his job with Pfizer is another.
So yeah, it is an order of magnitude worse, what with it being against the law and all.

Same with the civil servants, you just change the law. Easy, next question.

Ugh... I love that painting of the Archangel Michael, don't desecrate it with Trump.  :yuk:

You can't be serious, it looks like an illustration for a Magic: The gathering card, or a Manowar cover.

That's a washed out low def version of it.

This is the best version I could find with a quick search, but the one I have on my computer at home is sharper.

The problem is not the level of definition of that image.

That painting is just one removed breastplate away from a Sandra Hill novel cover.

Trust Trump! He will easily be able to push through any law he wishes in a soon-to-be Democrat Congress, especially one that banishes Democrats from appointed positions and destroys the civil service.

He will do this by

QuoteOne day this past May, Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a senior adviser to Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who left the presidential race just a few weeks before. As a candidate, Kasich declared in March that Trump was "really not prepared to be president of the United States," and the following month he took the highly unusual step of coordinating with his rival Senator Ted Cruz in an effort to deny Trump the nomination. But according to the Kasich adviser (who spoke only under the condition that he not be named), Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?

When Kasich's adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father's vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.

Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?

"Making America great again"    was the casual reply.

Has the whole world lost its mind, or have I just been in a foul mood all this year?

Makes a certain kind of sense. Trump gets to do what is most important to him (expand his fame and continue selling his brand) while others do the actual work of, you know, governing. And he gets to take all the credit and shift all the blame, at minimal actual financial cost to himself.

He's a charlatan and it's disappointing to watch so many people fall for it.

That's how every other Trump venture has been operated so not sure why that would be a surprise.

You guys read the New Yorker article about the guy who wrote "The Art of the Deal"?

And Trump responding that he was full of shit and Trump wrote the entire thing?

Of course, he actually did not write a single word of it.
