It's insulting when people compare Trump with Mussolini.

Mussolini was a blacksmith's son who worked and studied hard, to become a prominent journalist, combat veteran, mesmerizing public speaker, and deep reader of philosophical and political thought -- all prior to seizing power before the age of 40.

Born into wealth, an evader of military service, prone to hour-long rambling stump speeches, and the author of egotistical self-help books, Trump at almost 70 years old has got a failed casino, some very tall luxury apartment buildings, and a popular reality show to his name...that's all I can honestly think of, feel free to add to the list.

 There's no need to provoke him like that. He's very sensitive about his line of steaks, magazines, water and champagne. He assures us Trump University will be opening its door again after the lawsuit as well.

I am beginning to wonder if Languish is really the best source for news, though.

Whenever I come to this thread, there is at least a handful of people arguing why Trump is on his way to lose again and it is inevitable now for someone to pull away and get the Republican nomination. The same is happening right now after yesterday's voting.

Yet... every single proper news source (from left to right) which I then visited is talking about another big win for Trump and him solidifying his chances to be the nominee. I am starting to think Dorsey is biased in reporting on Trump's lead. 

Last night was a good night for Trump. But he still hasn't won delegates at a fast enough clip to secure the nomination without a contested convention (he needs 50% of delegates, right now he is under 50% of those that have been awarded).

It should be easier for him to pick up the pace starting next week when the winner take all contests start. With Rubio collapsing, I have to think Trump will win in Florida and Illinois.

The problem he could have is that if this becomes a 1-1 contest with him and Cruz, polling indicates that Cruz is the one with over 50%. In that case, Trump could start to fail to get any delegates at all from winner take all states.

I think 538 tracker is designed to account for that, in what it considers to be "on pace" or "not on pace".  It's not as simple as "does he have 50% of delegates now or not", for reasons that you described.

Except - everything that Donald has actually done with this life is part of the problem that Guardian claims to be identifying.  Knocking down old line department stores to build luxury condos.  Bulldozing old working class neighborhoods to build highly leveraged casinos that go bust.  Even his reality show is the ultimate expression of the winner-take-all ethos: dozens compete for a single job opening, where "success" entails deferential toadying to the big boss.

I can get why working class people would go to Bernie over Hillary.  But Trump?  At risk of being the arrogant ivory tower elitist, that is just false consciousness.  Yuge, yuge, false consciousness.

Supporting any other Republican candidate is at least as much if not more false consciousness for working class Americans as Trump. What's the alternative? Harvard graduate Cruz? Rich Wall-Street-Jew-bought Rubio? Union busting Kasich?

At least Trump is authentic and could play a "I was one of them so I know how to bust them" card.
