It's not just Hindu nationalists. Many middle and upper income Indian Americans (second generation even) are pro-Trump. Speaking from my (2nd gen Indian) GF's family. They're a bunch of entrepreneurs and small business people and see tax rates as the most important thing in the world and are convinced of Trump's business acumen. Being virulently anti-Muslim also helps.

Both Indians and Pakistanis are often proud of the Aryan thing.  Also Hitler is viewed fairly well amongst Hindu Nationalists.

And that's the attitude that is unfortunately also often expressed by "moderates" or "independents", and which is largely why GOP has been allowed to turn increasingly fascist over the years without consequences.  Cynicism is toxic to democracy.
