There's growing heat from party powers that be for Kasich to GTFO. However, Kasich gave a little speech at the start of a town hall that he's on a mission and a crusade, and maybe it's not to win the presidency. That makes me think John may be going off the deep end and is becoming unpredictable.

There's still a branch of Republican power brokers who prefer him to Rubio though, aforementioned Stanley Druckenmiller, former Governors Tom Ridge and Bill Weld endorsed him yesterday, and the wealthy Home Depot founder Ken Langone endorsed him Monday as well--he was one of the big money guys backing Christie until he dropped out. Getting additional endorsements after South Carolina, and money backers, may be all the internal justification Kasich needs to stay in.

I don't really understand why Rubio is preferable to Kasich to just about anyone, but the way things stand he is going to need to give way to Rubio really soon or piss a lot of people off and get embarrassed.

All that commie building bridges with Democrats claptrap.  :P

If only Twitter had been around for the Douglas-Lincoln debates. What has America lost? :weep:

Still more dignified than Stephen Douglas' race baiting.

Yes, Tim, because past performance always dictates future performance.  You do realize we're talking about the future, right?
I'd like to think that you're right, but I don't know.  Everyone complains how polarized both camps are, but what I think really prevents accountability is that there are too many fickle contrarian independents.  They're feeling unhappy for some reason and Democrats are in power?  Vote in Republicans.  They're feeling unhappy for some reason and Republicans are in power?  Vote in Democrats.  What the parties stand for doesn't matter, what matters is that they're the other party.  We need balance, we need gridlock, blah, blah.

Valmy

The problem is where the Republicans are strong the Democrats just do not exist. But where the Democrats are strong the Republicans are there fighting. Even in blue states the Republicans can get Governors and state legislative majorities elected. The Democrats just get annihilated in red states. The national picture is bleak for the Dems. They are too weak in too many places.

Nevada caucuses are in chaos.

Ballot issuers and collects decked out in Trump gear all over the place, no one checking IDs, folks stuffing the ballot, no one knows what precincts are where, etc.

Lighten up FFS.

I meant it in the "oh if only we could have gotten Douglas and Lincoln sniping at each other on twitter" way, rather than the old days were better way. But I can see that I was unclear.

Going predict a clean 40% for Trump

The Trumptruppen may push that number a fair bit higher though

Updated quote from source: "40-50 loose ballots on table." Counter looked at them, put them under envelopes. Wouldn't budge when called out.

This is election fraud. Pure and simple.

QuoteThe P.P.P. poll asked voters if they thought whites were a superior race. Most Republican primary voters in South Carolina — 78 percent — disagreed with this idea (10 percent agreed and 11 percent weren't sure). But among Mr. Trump's supporters, only 69 percent disagreed. Mr. Carson's voters were the most opposed to the notion (99 percent), followed by Mr. Kasich and Mr. Cruz's supporters at 92 and 89 percent. Mr. Rubio's backers were close to the average level of disagreement (76 percent).

According to P.P.P., 70 percent of Mr. Trump's voters in South Carolina wish the Confederate battle flag were still flying on their statehouse grounds. (It was removed last summer less than a month after a mass shooting at a black church in Charleston.) The polling firm says that 38 percent of them wish the South had won the Civil War. Only a quarter of Mr. Rubio's supporters share that wish, and even fewer of Mr. Kasich's and Mr. Carson's do.

Nationally, the YouGov data show a similar trend: Nearly 20 percent of Mr. Trump's voters disagreed with the freeing of slaves in Southern states after the Civil War. Only 5 percent of Mr. Rubio's voters share this view.

If this pattern holds for the rest of precincts, Marco Rubio will beat Trump. :o
