Was it weight loss, not smoking or surgery?

Not sure.  I was having trouble breathing with it so just tossed it, and didn't have any more issues.

I would have made a good Brownshirt. Without the gay shit.

Or an SS functionary.

I would look dreamy in a black uniform.

You'd probably wear make up, too. Like Göring.

Did they?  Peaceful coexistence was possible with the Soviet Union as demonstrated by the fact they never went to war with the US and neatly collapsed on itself, this was not true of Nazi Germany which was had to blasted from the face of the earth.

There was a thing called the Cold War, during most of which the Soviets had many nuclear weapons pointed at us.

Anyway, kind of a silly argument & I'm a little embarrassed at having been drawn in :D

How exactly does that negate my point about peaceful coexistence?

So as long as you don't shoot at each other directly but just get your proxy to shoot at their proxy that's "peaceful co-existence"?

Interesting use of the term. :hmm:

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Peaceful coexistance only requires they don't be at war.  This was something that Nazi Germany could not accomplish with it's neighbors (or the US).

Only if you stretch the meaning of "peaceful co-existence" to near-breaking point; "Hostile co-existence" would be a more accurate description of US/USSR relations.

No, just the normal meaning.  It doesn't mean they have to like one another.  I should hope you can see the difference between the relationship between the US and Soviet Union and the relationship between the US and Nazi Germany.

Raz, Soviet and US pilots shot each other up in the Korean War.  Vietnam too I think.  That's hardly peaceful coexistence.

Not actively trying to undermine the other side by every method short of direct open warfare on a daily basis would be part of my definition.

There's peaceful coexistence that allows for a degree of competition - consider British/American relations post the War of 1812, for example - and then there's the Cold War.

And as Yi has pointed out, at some points Americans and Soviets did shoot directly at each other, even if under the guise of being "advisors" to local forces.
