I'm surprised Hans hasn't come here, frothing at the mouth for a change, about how Obama's tastes in burger *proves* he's a dangerous, murderous socialist-elitist in this latest outrage that is the Dijon or Mustard - gate !

What other proof could the citizens of the United States require, that would demonstrate how delusional and intellectually bankrupt the conservatives in that country are - than this latest media franzy ?

While I think that Ingraham has fallen over to the darkside since getting cancer, I do find it funny that Obama goes on this PR trip and gets this.

QuoteCheck out this last line of The Washington Post piece: "Bonnie Cosby, 51, a technology consultant who picked up burgers on her way home from work, opined: 'It shows that he's in touch with the people, and that he's not up in the ivory tower. He's a real person — with a burger.'

Also, what kind of person does order dijon mustard and no ketchup on a hamburger? (Not that it matters, but...ewww)

P.S. Grallly - When I was a teen living at home, I used to listen to Laura Ingraham every night before bed. :goodboy:

Some media frenzies are a little more frenzied than others.

A sensible person. Ketchup is a biohazard.

My mother raised me properly.  Items that one should always have in ample supply at home : peanut butter, hershey's chocolate syrup, and ketchup.

He really doesn't strike you a burger type does he?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Agree with the first and last, but what's the chocolate syrup for?

Someone with taste.  Ketchup is useful for cooking but has no place as a condiment on an adult's food.

I can't fathom either side of this one. There's nothing wrong with using ketchup, and there's nothing wrong with not using it. Depending on the burger and toppings almost anything in the condiment spectrum may be appropriate, from mayo and mustard to ketchup or any number of exotics (barbecue sauce, steak sauce, spicy ranch etc.).

Honestly, what kind of utter misanthrope gets uppity about burger toppings?

Other than when making meatloaf, what on earth would someone use ketchup for in cooking.

No, wait, you're British.  Given what I do know of British cooking, I don't want to know what ketchup might be used for over there.

Steak tartare.  It's good in a lot of Jamaican curries as well and I always use it in any tomato sauce I make.  It mellows when it's cooked and is delicious :)

Welcome to the internet. Just mentioning that I like steak well done gets me hate mail.
