Best ES game.

I not only actually finished the game before I got bored but I actually did the Tribunal expansion.

So while that seems like a lifetime ago, I would at least get a Morrowind remaster and give it a spin.

I think most of us remember Morrowind as the supreme game when it came to world-building and quests.
We got a small taste in the Skyrim expansion with a revisit to Solstheim, but it was just enough to whet one's appetite for more.

I'd gladly deliver my, uhm, package to Caius Cosades in an Unreal 5 remaster.

The Minsky Moment

Only problem with Morrowind was no horse armor.

There might have been. But there were no horses so we will never know.

Not on Vvardenfell, no. But probably elsewhere where orcs are less common.  :nerd:

Siltrider Armour...

I've said it before but I find Morrowind to be quite shit.
When I played it, it was already quite old; maybe it was after I'd already played Oblivion?
So the clunky controls, right button for menu, left button for action, thing was just massively off putting.

Oblivion was amazing for its time. That it was a pretty generic fantasy world was part of the appeal. You actually got to walk around in one.
I never actually finished it. My usual problem of getting side tracked trying to do everything got in the way.

I'm pretty sure I have an early memory of playing Daggerfall when it was the newest thing though and quite loving that. Never actually owned it though.

I played Morrowind back in 2003. Right around the time I just moved to Languish. In fact I remember grumbler showing me some mods and DLC for it back in those times.

Morrowind suffers from the (intentionally) slow start with your character barely able to do much of anything (unless using gamebreaking cheese mechanics) and from sitting in the weird intersection of moving towards full 3D immersive world while still using old school RPG dice rolls for combat leading to the "I hit but it doesn't do anything!!" reaction of many players at the start of the game.

That said, by later game you fast walk everywhere and kill most threats with a few hits while taking little damage. Very much a power fantasy. :D An I really liked the main quest and its dive into ancient lore and you getting to interpret yourself what you want to believe. Also one of the few main quests that's not constantly harrassing you with how urgent the threat is but instead often telling you, "Yeah, take a break from the story, do some other stuff for a bit."

I need to play it again. I very much like the Morrowind Rebirth mod which is a vanilla and lore friendly overhaul, expanding some areas (a shop here, an NPC there, a bit of farming near Caldera etc.), adding a few fun dungeons and items, doing gentle rebalancing etc. that all fit well into the original game without going silly or ratcheting up the difficulty to 1337-uber-gamer levels. :)

There's always Skywind that will hopefully come out sometime. :D

Morrowind remains my favorite TES entry, it had the best balance between size (as in being smaller  :P ) and purposeful content, instead of just littering the world with stuff. Oblivion was really good too. Skyrim is the one that put me off the formula.

Morrowind had a lot of copy and paste dungeons no?

I do agree that's key to a good MMORPG- dense worlds where every inch is designed. Worlds that are big just to show off were impressive once upon a time but no longer. It's where Yakuzas world relally shines for instance.
