I always thought that Green Lantern was kinda of crap hero anyway.  His weakness is the color yellow?  Pfft.
Alan Scott's weakness is wood.  He get's hit by a two by four its all over.
PDH!

That's not a weakness.

The more I read about this, the more I think it's just DC being retarded.  I thought they totally wiped Alan Scott's history, but it's basically a Marvel Ultimate Universe ripoff concept where they're simply doing new and updated versions of everyone.  In that case, I think it's fine, though a cheap publicity tactic.  Why make all the effort of promoting it like it's such a major deal, and then totally pull the punch with the actual hero involved other than to garner some free buzz and attempt to save a storyline, 52, which is apparently being shat on by fans and selling like trash.  There have been Marvel and DC heroes who were gay before this, and there will be after.  By making all the fuss and then having the reveal be a cowardly cop out seems almost insulting to the gay community from my perspective.

I think you're over thinking it. Most people, if they even notice this, are going to go, oh there's a gay superhero who's name I recognize - didn't Ryan Reynolds play him? Few are going to really get into caring that it is actually a different character.

Besides, I'm largely pro whatever pisses off the One Million Moms. :D

Yeah.  Pretty weak sauce, especially since it was in response to Marvel's gay wedding.  And Marvel at least chose their premier French-Canadian hero to be a homo (although he's been gay at least since the early 90s).

DC's tokenism is no good.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

His power ring won't affect anything made of wood.  I think that's a lame weakness.

They're of no concern to me as long as they keep from underfoot and away from Grallon.
