I have to admit I have yet to watch anything but highlights from Olympics.

The Norwegian athletes generally do well in skiing, and we pretend the world cares. Personally, I am thinking back to 1994 when the winter Olympics were held here where I live. It is more than 30 years ago, and that makes me:   

Some commentator on speedskating was mentioning Johann Olav Koss during a Norwegian's race and that it was in Lillehammer (me: "those were good games") 32 years ago. (me: "I don't need this personal attack!")

Yeah, I remember that. 

Also, it makes me miss Epyx' "Winter Games". 

Today, a medalist in the biathlon was interviewed and broke down in tears after admitting he had cheated on his girlfriend. Nobody had asked him if he had. I think the world fears being in the Epstein files so much people will admit to whatever they have done.

German TV showed bits of women's hockey. Caught some of Sweden v France and yesterday Germany v France. Those French ladies like to rought it up quite a bit. 

Bodychecks  in ladies' ice hockey incur a penalty.
They happen though sometimes.
As for fisticuffs? Those are illegal in Men's Olympic ice hockey, same goes for women.

Sweden beats the US in mixed curling fina. That felt sweet, good that the US takes Russias traditional place as most loathed nation. Sport needs the good vs evil fight.

I know they just got destroyed by Slovakia but I think Finland has the best sweaters in Hockey.

The IOC said they're of course aware that those games were used as nazi propaganda, but it's also important to honor the thousands of athletes. Also, there's more content given in the Olympic museum in Lausanne for those interested.

That feels like an argument that would have more currency if the T-shirt featured Jesse Owen rather than a literal propaganda poster of an Aryan ubermensch...

Norway defeated Germany 2-0 in football and won bronze in 1936. Of course, sore losers that they are, Germany invaded Norway to make sure we could not repeat that in 1940.

When the Swedish team tried to get some attention on it the Canadians told them quite clearly to "Fuck off". Curling is normally a gentlemans game where judges very very rarely are even needed.

There are screenings at cinematheques as well, of course. But you're not exactly in walking/métro range of the British Film Institute, so the point is moot.

Curling is like F1. Gotta exploit all the nook and crannies of the rules.

Norway has 20 medals so far. 10 of them are gold. 

This means we now have more Olympic medals than Sweden historically. This is also the only real motivation for a Norwegian athlete: To outdo the Swedes.
Unfortunately for us, Sweden has also done reasonably well.
