War in the East, 44-45 campaign.

First in Berlin gets a a case of Reese Cups from People's Reese Cup factory #1. A rich bounty indeed.

Don't look now but Ide just got his chocolate in your peanut butter.

I'd love to play a GC as the Russians, but the micromanagement of creating new Corps and Armies seems hellish.

It's all here installed on my PC, but the updated digital manual is very heavy read.

Habbaku

I didn't find the managing of corps/army creation to be all that difficult.  It's the air management BS that I quickly grew tired of.  I eventually figured it out, but it took a long, long time.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Turn 3 continues(because I'm a lazy fucker)....

In the south, with the OMGs still frozen, I use the Soviet sledgehammer to pound German divisions. Several divisions are forced to retreat, with many of them losing 50-75% of their arty and AFV's. Since I have nothing to exploit with, I'll content to blowing holes in lines. The units in the Kharkov MD are brought up to exploit with next turn.

One poor Hungarian division routs. Reports from the front report that their beet supply wagons were captured, along with 'tons' of thievery tools.

Front lines turned on for Peedy.

Looks like you are about to liberate Dguller's hometown.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Turn 4 start...

EVERYBODY GETS PROMOTED!!!

Looking at the map, the AI refills the holes blown in its lines. With what looks like many of the units that got whacked hard. Comrade Stalin demands their destruction. Also, I notice the Kiev MD has some units I can move in by choo-choo. Comrade Thomas will deliver them to the front. Or else. Commissar Topham Hatt will see to it.

The Pzgr, Panzer and cavalry units that have been hit seem to streamed back some. That is fine. The people's justice will come to them. It also looks like 2 OMG's have been unfrozen. Just in time for the Wiking division to pop up in the German rear.

18 months ago I wouldn't have gotten that joke.

Turn 4, South:

Comrade Stalin has demanded the smashing of the Romanian scum.

3 Romanian units have been routed. German divsions with them are being battered. Soviet commanders are reporting supply difficulties. The scenario description warned me about that.

Meanwhile, near the Hungarian border, the Romanians begin to crack. A hole has been punched int their dirty thieving faces.

However, mobile forces in the rear remain frozen. Comrade Stalin is using them for his production of 'Hitler has one ball!", a new film due next spring. Maybe a small pocket can be developed.

The Guards break through:

German infantry divisions are down to 4-8 thousand men and can be rudely shoved aside. Supplies are a problem.

Still turn 4:

Eek, Poland coming up. Smells like feet.  Multiple holes blown in lines and armor pushing through. The unit being looked at is a wrecked SS Mot Brigade.

In Soviet Russia, game crushes you:

Anybody interested in this shit or am I wasting my time?

The two are not mutually exclusive!

I'm enjoying it, though.  Maybe show the air screens and such for Ide's pleasure?

Showing the OOB that details who's in charge of what would also be neat.

Bonus points if you..."liberate" Yugoslavia before hitting Germany.

I'll do an OOB screen tomorrow. The air stuff...I basically ignoring. Airbase attacks take too long to run through.

I need my tanks in the Ukraine to release to even try that.
