WitP was $80, but that was because of a physical back-up CD (that I've since lost -_- ).  But even without, it was $70.

Fuck that noise.  I just buy the download versions and will pirate the games if I want to install them.  I still keep all my CD keys and have registered all my games, so...
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I recall one of the Ultimas (6? 7?) was actually DM120.00 when it came out, or ca. 60 €. It was a common price for imported, niche or some high end games of the time. Actually, it was pretty common for console games, too (e.g. Legend of Zelda for NES or stuff like Castlevania or Contra for SNES).

That's actually what I was thinking of - I'm pretty sure I paid $70+ for Ultima V in the late 80s. For the Apple II.

And if they really are charging you an EXTRA 5 for the pre-order, well, tat does indeed suck.

Yeah, but wasn't the Canadian dollar worth less the the US dollar at the time?  That might explain it.  Anyway, 50-60 bucks for a high end PC game seems reasonable this day and age.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Actually, I went on a nostalgia trip yesterday and read some old games reviews (in the late 80s/early 90s there was a games review magazine in Germany, ASM, that had quite a cult following - a number of their reviews are online). The reviews also featured the recommended retail price for the product (in Deutsche Mark, of course). A few choice examples:
http://www.kultboy.com/index.php?site=testb/testb

Civilization: DM120/€60
Secret of Monkey Island: DM100/€50
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis: DM120/€60
It Came From the Desert: DM100/€50
Ultima VI: DM130/€65
Wing Commander: DM120/€60
Sim Earth: DM140/€70
Starflight: DM85/€42.50

In general, a lot of PC games, ca, 1992 were at DM120, games for Commodore Amiga at DM80-DM100, and C64 around DM80.

They keep releasing TOR music via Facebook, a lot of it Cantina music - some of which is rather . . . odd.

Kayfoundo Naweea (Ukrainian folk song?)
Do the holos show up on the bill? (Star Wars porn music?)

Apparently the made-up style of music the Max Rebo band performs used to be called 'jizz'.  Then someone told George Lucas what jizz means in popular slang, so they dropped the name. :)

Not only Max Rebo. Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes (cantina band from Ep. 4) were also referred to as jizz band. Not to mention that Labria/Kardue'sai'Malloc (the Devaronian in the cantina) was a major jizz fan.

For those in the beta, is it worth paying more to get the mount from the getgo?

Syt

From what I've seen in the newbie areas: likely not. Most places have "taxi stands" that let you shuttle between different parts of the map for a reasonable price. No idea if that holds true past level 11, though. :P

You know, as much as some of my fondest MMO memories are from hanging with Languishites, it just isn't going to happen this game.  Too few people, with too many competing interests.

I will be rolling on Helm of Graush, which is PvP, PST, and will role Republic.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

I'll be on whatever English speaking European RP server there is.
