Way to jump on the bandwagon. ;)

Actually, the latest four albums are pretty solid: Karma, Epica, The Black Halo, and Ghost Opera. Before that, it's pretty sketchy, though. Siege Perilous is nigh unlistenable, probably since it was mostly written with the former vocalist, Marc Vanderbilt.

I want to see the Anvil movie. it's a RL version of Spinal Tap, about a band that ... never quite "made" it.

I'm not a fan of heavy metal but I really liked that film.

Marti, try REO SpeedWagon.  They may be a bit "heavy" for you but if you can handle that then you can move on to Styx.

Btw, Marty, you may want to check out Atrocity's two albums "Werk 80" and "Werk 80 II". It's metal covers of 80s songs, with strngs and female sopranos.

The Sun Always Shines On TV

Shout (a bit mellower)

If you like medieval tunes you may also want to check out Russian band Arkona:
Slavsia, Rus (more of a ballad)
Pokrovi Nebesnogo Startsa (A bit raw, don't let the fast intro put you off)

Alternatively check Eluveitie from Switzerland:
Inis Mona

(And I guess I won't have to suggest checking what else YouTube links to from those videos)

I don't know that Marti can handle "Lady".

Also, there's a number of "Lord of the Rings" metal bands, like Battlelore, Summoning or Isengard (Spanish).

Blind Guardian, the only respectable one of them out of the bunch. If Marti's feeling like camp, he could always go for Dragonforce.

What about Rammstein? I kinda liked Mann gegen Mann:blush:

Scipio

Glenn Danzig's Dark Aria is a great album.  But it doesn't really qualify.

Ramstein is a unique phenomenom, and the reason the German language was invented. They are far from being  typical metal though.
