Way to jump on the bandwagon.

Actually, the latest four albums are pretty solid: Karma, Epica, The Black Halo, and Ghost Opera. Before that, it's pretty sketchy, though. Siege Perilous is nigh unlistenable, probably since it was mostly written with the former vocalist, Marc Vanderbilt.

Marti, try REO SpeedWagon.  They may be a bit "heavy" for you but if you can handle that then you can move on to Styx.

Btw, Marty, you may want to check out Atrocity's two albums "Werk 80" and "Werk 80 II". It's metal covers of 80s songs, with strngs and female sopranos.

Blind Guardian, the only respectable one of them out of the bunch. If Marti's feeling like camp, he could always go for Dragonforce.

Glenn Danzig's Dark Aria is a great album.  But it doesn't really qualify.

Ramstein is a unique phenomenom, and the reason the German language was invented. They are far from being  typical metal though.
