Not only have I not bought Civ V, I've uninstalled Civ IV and Civ III.  Still play Civ II, though.
Yikes.  Do you play it on Commodore 64 as well?

my computer is too old for civ 5. I haven't played 4 in a few months. ah well.

The good news this is not the reason to upgrade your computer

yep... which is why I haven't. Occasionally fate has me coincidentally having a computer fast enough to run whatever's current game wise, but it's usually a brief window, just after I get a new system, as I only upgrade when the need gets dire. Current need: not at all. very happy with my 4 years ago system. (mac mini with a kick ass 27 inch monitor that has better resolution than my tv.)

Civ 2 with borders added would be the best game ever made.

Ancient Demon

I'm not sure why anyone would think Civ 2 is better than 4.

I very much doubt it.  One of my favorite strategies in Civ 2 was to send a stealth fighter on a one way mission to the enemy city, and keep killing the defenders inside until he had one move left.  Hopefully I would take the city with other units later than turn, so that stealth fighter could land.  These days, this strategy would be an obvious sign of a bad game design.

Eddie Teach

It was hilarious how you could sit bombers around cities that could only get attacked by fighters and then stick a tank under them to defend against the fighters.

Civ 3 remains my favorite in the series.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

  Me too, though I always get ridiculed for saying that for some reason.

Civ 2 was amazing for its time but its clearly not the best in the modern day.
That would be....I don't know. 4?

yes it is. It is missing the "magic" of Civ IV for some reason, but with the now patched version it is a very streamlined and good game, with meaningful choices (unlike Civ4). The one unit stacking limit is also awesome, makes for panzer generalish wars, except that the AI is not good at it.

It's high time we MP this thing.

Darth Wagtaros

It is OK.  I wound up going back to Fall From Heaven, but will spend more time on it maybe this week.

PDH!
