Hey Neil: DBs Chris Carr and uberdraft pick Jimmy Smith are listed as out, so expect Kenny Britt to have a possibly decent day.  Ben Grubbs is doubtful, so look for Andre Gurode to make it into the line-up for the first time, but as a guard fill-in for Grubbs, not center.

I'm taking my nieces to The Lion King in 3D at 12:40, so I'm Tivoing the game, and keeping myself in OPSEC mode until I get home.  So don't tell me what the score is.

Neil

Yeah, Britt will have a good game provided that Hasselbeck doesn't have one of those games.  The Grubbs injury has been worrying me ever since the afterglow of the Pittsburgh win wore off around Thursday or so.  I feel good about Gurode stepping in, even if he's not quite the mauler that Grubbs is he's a smart guy who knows how to block, but I just wish that the starters had more time to gel.

So, I promise not to text you around 4pm or so your time with something like '31-14 lololololol'.

This is for all the young 'uns and Timmaytards

QuoteLast weekend in the first round of the 2011 regular season games, there were 14 quarterbacks who passed for over 300 yards, the most ever in NFL history. Interesting is that only eight of those 14 were on the winning team in the games, led by New England Patriots QB Tm Brady and his insane 517 yards, including that amazing 99 yard TD pass/run to WR Wes Welker.

In 1977, there were only five 300-yard passing game in the entire season. Former Baltimore Colts QB Bert Jones actually had two of those five games, with 340 yards on December 18, 1977 and 322 yards on November 20, 1977. The most yardage any QB threw for in 1977 was 396 yards by New York Jets QB Richard Todd on October 23, 1977. Noted is that Todd's total as the highest shows there were zero 400-yard passing games in the NFL in 1977, while there were four in the first week of the 2011 season.

Running backs were better in 1977, too.

Neil

No illegal contact rule in '77 either, which is probably why they chose that year for the comparison.

Looks like the Ravens pass rush has gone back to sleep.

I'm happy I'm not McCown, but I'm not happy that I had to line up against their D this week.

They switched over from the Jags-Jets (holy shit) to Raiders-Bills here.  Pretty entertaining game.

The Lions won again despite their QB issues.

QB issues?  I thought Stafford was great as long as he was healthy?

Fucking Raiders. :bleeding:  Chris Johnson should be cut before they leave Buffalo.  The Defense as a whole should probably be cut for that matter. Giving up td's on every drive in the second half?  Fucking pathetic pieces of shit.
