High internet latency?

Guys, I tested my ISP speed and it appears I have very high internet latency - ranging from 600 to 1200 ms. Surprisingly enough it does not really show up when playing WoW, but does affect internet browsing.

I have a wifi router, with a laptop and a desktop using it, but when I was testing it the laptop was turned off.

Any idea what could be the cause of the latency?

I was expecting something else when I saw Martinus started a thread about "latency."

Try using different DNSs

Contact your ISP, they might be throttling you. [Altho, I'm unsure if throttling affects latency]

I don't think throttling would affect the ping.  Mine throttles torrents and that just means I get slow download rates, but the ping is fine.

Unless you are dling porn or using p2p software the most likely explanation is your ISP has trouble.

Zanza

Must be a problem with your ISP. Wait for them to fix it.

Is anyone pirating your WiFi?

Doesn't your ISP have a cap on things? IIRC didn't you have this problem before?

No, it was back in Brussels. And I don't have a problem with download speeds, just latency when browsing.
